8,000 dollars? Yikes. You would think that they would make it so it could get wet -since it is in a boat!. Are you sure it will get ruined if it gets wet? Wet, or if it intakes water? Are you sure about that?!?!

at the rpm;s its spinning, a gulp of water will destroy the blades, but a small spray of water is ok...in fact, ive heard that people spray in a small amount of water in a turbine before takoff, but the reson for, i dont know

with the hi temper fins inside a jet turbine and the high temperatures the fins reach, spraying water on those fins will crack them and disintegrate the motor.

For those that haven't seen it, here is a video from a german board, it shows a first test run of the 1:6 scale hydro Miss Llumar (check www.modelgasboats.com for the story).

Running a turbine is something that I have been thinking about doing. I was thinking about just using a turboprob style turbine and just making my own exhaust for it. but for $1000's of dollars for one of those things, i dont know

All the video's I see of turbines, they do not seem to be going as fast as they are loud/neat! Are they afraid to give it the juice, or is it more show than go?

You guys are forgetting the fuel factor as well. MHZ has developed a turbine system using a Wren ( I think anyway) turbine and MHZ gearbox. The specs on it are approximately the same as a G260 full mod, but it burns considerably more fuel(70 ml per min at idle, 200 ml per min at full throttle). It's also much heavier than the G260, both in actual weight and cost to purchase

It is only 11 ounces heavier than their blue line Zen, and puts out 8 hp, a bit more than the Zen, so the added fuel would not be much of a consideration,,,,, 200ml per minute at full throttle is a bit of fuel....would need at least two 24 oz tanks to get a decent run time...... in reality we are only talking about an extra 3 pounds with engine and fuel and an extra couple horsepower.
To me, it still is not worth the price to have something unique....but there are ppl out there who just has to have one.

those are bigger boats and they just don't look as fast as a 30" going the same speed.
