My first gas powered boat WarHawk 1980
I hope all of you don't mind me posting a boat that I built years ago.
I thought you would like to see what gas boats were like in the early 1980's
I started to build this boat in 1980. I finished 1982, money was the time factor.
The hull is Performance models Warhawk 56" Deep Vee
Powered by a water cooled 22cc Echo weedy. I made the water cooling sleeve.
Drive unit was originally International Hobby.
I changed it to a Funcraft Flex cable outdrive unit.
Radio was a MRC 6 ch. 4 stock servos for steering. Nothing like we have today.
Exhaust system was home made to fit the stock muffler.
At that time tuned pipes were not available for gas. Well I could not find one!
Speed was around 33 to 35 MPH after tuning and prop changes. Hit 35.3 MPH in a time trap.
The average speed was 34.8 MPH on 3 runs through time trap.
Pic's are not very good at all . Scanned in from 35mm film. Best I could do.

RE: My first gas powered boat War Hawk 1980
Thanks skoda450
I still have the boat at my family's house upstate NY. I run it on Lake George NY .
Still runs, has a new Zenoah 260M now. Futaba radio 1/4 Hitec servo .
I have not run it with the new motor, some time in the spring when I go upstate.
I have some more work to do mounting the servos. reinstalling the radio box.
Paint is not bad for it's age.
I also have to replace the gas tank and all hoses.

I was going through boxes packed away for years today and found this picture of my Warhawk, only good pic I have .
This picture was taken in Lake George NY in town 1987 , there was a young lady air brushing T shirts
so I had her air bush my boat on a T shirt. I thought the T shirt was long gone, well I found that too !

Sure will, I'm up there every summer. I get up there for long weekends around June or July.
I Love that lake !
