Hey guys!
Just alittle info on the Bonzi motors.
They don't do what Bonzi says they will.
Sure Bonzi's Bling is nice, but that don't get you acroos the water.
I ran a stock G260 up against a BZ4 mod in the same boat and the stocker ran only 1 mph slower.
So for the extra money they are not worth it. The inline twin is very poorly built interanlly on the reversed cyl. motor, there coupler setup is machined wrong and will bind up the rear engine causing it to jam up the crank & engine damage.
I sent a brand new inline Bonzi to Al at Toxic Marine to be reworked and he just laughed at the workmanship of there motor setup.
So I guess take it for what it is worth from someone that has wasted the money & run them.
Sorry!!

I have no experience with there inline, But I do own one or 3 of there full mod motors, the BZX4 is a fine motor. You don't prop a full mod like you do a stocker, also a lot of things will effect how the motor runs, pipe type and length for one. Iv gotten a bit more speed out of there motor then a stocker, So help us under stand what the set up was, hull? prop's? pipe? pipe length?

Cain , heres your boats sister. she has a pair of sikks. one head turned to exhaust down the center. i should be done in a couple of day. be able to run her next weekend. they tell me she ran 79 MPH with a pair of QD's in her originally. shes a little heavier now , fuel cells and some glasswork. but should still scoot pretty good

RE: Expresscraft Cougar Cat with Twins
Hello,
I too am building a Cougar Cat with twin Sikk engines so I find this all very informative. I have taken a slightly different approach with the stringers from what I have seen pictured here. I ran the center stringers to the transom with 12 inch short rails on the outsides. This is the opposite of what I have seen here. I will post pictures first chance I get. I am waiting for my exhaust systems to show up before locating the engines permanently. Looks like there are three similar boats going on here but nobody is posting any dimensions. I am curious what others have spaced their engines and struts apart and what distance from the transom they are from the centerline of the spark plug. With stringers installed, struts and rudder installed, and hatch in place I found the CG to be at 21 3/8 inches from the transom. My engines are going to be further forward than yours. From the pictures it looks like everyone has their engines mounted further back than I plan to. Did anyone else check their CG and what did they find??
Rick

welcome Rick. there is no right or wrong when it comes to the stringers. do your own as long as they are solid should not make a difference as to wether they are inboard or out . I went by the original mounting positions of the engines and went 1 " to the rear. I did this to compensate for the new fuel cells and added wieght forward of the original IV bags. my boat was purchased second hand and had run 79MPH with twin QDs. her running attidude was perfect. so im sure she will be OK. your also limited by the dreded hatch. so your engines will have to be in the visinity of the 2 driver pods. I will take some measurments tomorrow and post for you. be interesting to see how they match up to your boat and hurricains.

nieto,
Thankyou. I look forward to your info and measurements. I am familiar with your boat. I spoke with Tom from Expresscraft and he told me some about it. I agree about the limitations of the canopies as to the placement of the engines. But I also understand that the hatch was actually designed for YOUR boat so the placement should be real close.
I am waiting for pipes to arrive. I want them to fit inside the boat with only the small diameter of the exhaust tip stiking through the transom about 1 1/2 inches. Maybe my postman will make me happy tomorrow and I can make some progress.

here are a few pitures of the stringers I built. I have not finshed them are glassed them in yet. I set most everything in and the CG is like 18 1/4 from the back of the transom. Rick I sure like that handle you put on the back where did you find that or did you make it!!

Hurricain,
You are quite the woodworker! The stringers and workmanship look outstanding! Bravo!! Looks like we are all after the same final goal so it is nice to see how others are getting there. The handles-- I actually put two on the boat to make it easier to launch and carry about. I will try to post a picture. The other one is on the deck just forward of the hatch. They are actually drawer handles that I bought in a hardware store! I think they are brass but they look like brushed aluminum and match the hardware very well. I put some wood on the underside to spread the load.

ok , a couple more picture. CG is at 17.75" with engines installed ,pipes on and fuel cells in place. all the goodies in the radio box too. only thing off are props, rudder blade, throttle cables and fuel and cooling hoses.. I will do the CG again when all that has been installed. but I dont think it will be that far from where we are now. remember i moved the engines back .75 inches to compensate for uel cells and thier new location.

I love that stringer set up of yours. very nice! my hull originally had four big 1 1/4" holes back there and it looked unfinished. so i put those vents in. the inside of the hull is rubberized trunk coating for cars. finishes the inside off really well. I had to do something different as the glasswork was a little rough in there originally. i will drop some more pics in tomorrow when i get the fuel cells mounted. I like that drawer handle idea. Might incorporate that into my build. keep up the great work! both those boats are gonna be HOT. Robert

I have made a little more progress with the build and have a few pictures to show. I made some aluminum servo mounting brackets and installed a 1/4 scale steering servo and two standard servos for throttle control. ( The one on the right is only being used for setup as the case is broken.) I am going to need some servo harness extensions and a "Y" harness to connect the two throttle servos. I located the hole in the hull for one of the brass stuffing tubes and installed one tube. That is it for now.

Hey V8Rider do you have a three channel radio if so you could hook up your throttles on different channels and do some mixing then you could sink the engines a lot easer. just a thought!! that is what I am doing. you guys boats are looking great I hope to work on mine Sunday I am taking my Magnum to the lake tomorrow to run her off a friends little 28ft cabin cruiser should be fun. I have been wanting to run her next to a real boat for fun. I wish we three could get together to run our Expresscrafts together. that would be a blast but Showtime I am sure would maybe smoke us. Hurricain,
I have not yet decided if I am going to buy a two or three channel radio system but I do know that it will be a DSM radio. I have one installed in two other boats useing one transmitter and two receivers and I like the adjustability and built in fail safe system. I plan to sinc the carbs with the adjustable mechanical linkage and operate them as one channel either way. I prefer to build things as clean and simple as I can. It makes for less problems later on. I hope to get some time in on it today and maybe get the second stuffing tube installed and maybe my water pickups. I'm planning on making my own through hull pickups.
