quick draw hydro maden run today!
Hi guys,
well we found a great small lake, with gease, so we went early, and there was a few on lookers, walking there dogs, and that was it. There was lots of gease, and we didn't seem to bother them to much.
The day started out nice, water was smooth as glass, for the most part.
She started up nice, those quickdraws, can really fire up nice, and she idled nicely, just a couple of quick pops on the pull cord, and she ran nice. My pit crew partner, didnt through the boat in the water fast enough, so she really took on lots of water, stuffed herself and stalled. We tried it again, and same prob. This boat is very bow heavy do to the tank, and engine and stuff.
We finally got our heads together, gave her a good through, and off she went, on plain...
I did a few laps, at slow speed, to do the water cooling checks, and get the feel ot the boat, tell she lost her prop, and prop nut! Money down the drain!. Luckly I brought a spare, and properly lock nuted the prop. Oh well, live and learn, I even dived for it, but the water was to merky.
Finally we had a small crowd awaiting some real action, so we finaly got her running smooth. I then became brave, after feeling how she handled, and gave her full throttle, she really moves, and that turn fin, you can really hear and see how well it was working. I think I had her at about 50 mph, but some times she lunges back and forward, and behaves funny, I just couldn't get it to settle down, It was like a jet ski, lunging forward, trying to settle down. I did manage a couple of times to settle her down, and she really flew. I'll have to read more posts, on how to fine tune her, because I belive this hydro is capable of 60 mph. The boat, after every run, had tons, and tons of water in it, because it shoots over the bow, at times, and I don't know how to prevent that, Im surpeised it never stalled, or radio box filled.
I have great video coverage, and a pic

what hydro is this? what prop and strut height? QD powered Hydro should definetely be in the upper 60's lower 70's with ease. My stryker hydro with fullmod 260 ran 61mph with a 2716/2 prop running like crap.

I'll post a link to a vid. The hydro is a PI Gen II 45", it has a 3" strut, and stuff tube, is set with negative, in relation to the botom of the hull, I belive it is set like this, to keep nose down, and prop at surface, seems a little odd to me, but hey Im still learning. I'll post a vid!
