Default Jersey Shore fun runnin' 7/14/07

We had a blast today.
The wind was a little gusty when we first showed up but as the sun began to set the wind died out allowed some fast passes.
John (45deepvee) had his 60" cat out there running pretty fast and pulling of some jetboat style spins and turns. He looks to have the right prop now and the boat is getting faster with each run. He had a few wild blow overs this afternoon but the prize goes to Crazy Otto.

Kevin (Crazy Otto) entertained us with his aerobatics in his super fast airplane... uh sorry boat. His drifter looks to be about setup another few runs and he should be ready to lean it out and see what it will really do. The 74" demon boat lived up to its name this afternoon and broke on its second run. Seems like it may have toasted a collet. This boat is super loud and mean sounding. Once the right prop is found for this thing it will truly be a spectacle to watch.

Nick (JerseyNick) was there also this afternoon with two boats, a very nicely detailed Vee he found on ebay.. with a race motor. The boat was scary fast. He was working some bugs out of it handling wise but I believe he's got the idea of what to do now it's just making the adjustments. His Miss Elam proboat hydro was experiencing some throttle linkage issues all day. It got wet for a few moments but was quickly brought back to shore do to a missing washer on the throttle linkage. Efforts were made to get the linkage fixed but the boat wasn't destined to see the water again today.

Me, I was pit man and designated launcher and catcher as my boat was in pieces still in my trunk. I help them all start up and launch the boats. I would have loved to run with them but I still had a blast.

BIG THANKS from everyone go out to 45deepvee for makeing the two farthest retrievals of the day. John had to swim pretty far out to push the drifter and the deepvee back into shore.

My family and I had a great time today guys thanks.

Saw this on another thread may make a great retrieval boat. I'm sure John will chip in

Many pictures to follow I'm sure.

Well I plopped the boat on the dinning room table tonight and started working on it.

I'm out of state next weekend but I'll be back the Tuesday so hopefully I can get this up and running before the next time I see you guys.

Tell Nick to switch the turn fin blades and see what happens...
Also he needs to drop that right tab so it's just a hair below the running surface.
This should keep the tab running on top of the water and keep it from trying to do barrel rolls.

I swear I saw it do a complete barrel roll on Saturday and keep on going like nothing happened.

I wonder if a skeg'd strut would help him out on that boat.

He's got so much torque that he needs to counter act that some how the only way I can think of is to drop the right tab and leave the left were it is.
The other thing is the bigger blade on the turn fin on the right might help hinder the rolling effect.

turn fin wont counter act the rolling torque. itll help in turns but itll just stab the water and wotn counter act the torqe effect.

he has to mess with the trim tabs and set the level first. the fins will only grab in the turns and keep it form slidign on the surface.

once he sets the trim tabs ( im gonna set em how i had mine set on my yellow boat) he should be fine. well have ti runngin level this wednesday. thats boats gonna be my project to make run straight.

nwo hes got a zen with sorta small prop. imagine mine with my sikk and a octura x482 [X(]

Beautiful boats. I'm jealous! Nobody here in this whole town (Chatham, MA) runs boats (RC, not full scale..) or whatnot.. I may be the only one!! Scary thought!! Wish I could afford a gas model - They are so much bigger and cooler, I absolutely love how they look.

No where right now.
We are trying to get permission to run on a lake in Lacey but we were kicked off the lake by the police last weekend.
