How do you connect a weedy engine to a prop?
I am going to be building a RC boat with a weed-eater engine, and I need to know how to connect the propeller to the engine. Any help would be great, thanks.

RE: How do you connect a weedy engine to a prop?
does your engine have a threaded drive on it or a square hole? you can get square ended flexes to slide into the hole,if its threaded you need to buy a collet.heres a cpl pics of a square ended collet, you can also get round ones that will grip the flex.twith the square ones you need to have a shaft saver between engine and tube or between tube and strut to stop shaft sliding out.the flex then solders to a ferrule and then the ferrule is then atached to a solid stainles steel shaft using 2 grub screws .the shaft rides in a strut and then your drive dog goes on with grub screws then your prop then a prop nut.

If you start with a complete weed eater, save the flexable shaft that was used to drive the string head. Both ends will have a squared end. Cut the flex to the desired length and solder on a furrel ( available from Octura or Marins Specialties) that will mate to the prop shaft with set screws. Prop is retained as mentioned earlier.
