Default NEW SEAQUEL BUILD

Hi guys well my new hull finally arrived today, the hull was built by a guy i know here in the uk Allan Gavin of Blue C Marine, its a stepped mono offshore style boat. This boat is his first attempt at an rc boat although he builds full size boats from glass.Well after seeing Waynes horror boat and the condition of it i was a little worried but i neednt have been i have to say this thing is awesome all the edges that need to be are reasonably sharp and after a full check over the hull i found one blemish on the step at one side, this been a tiny air hole that can easyly be fixed no probs .The gelcoat is beutifull, nice and smooth and very bright [8D] .I cant wait to get this thing started,he sent it unjoined so i can install the stringers easier,he even supplied some matting to join it and theres plenty to install the stringers too.The lip round the edges of the hull and deck join are a little large but i can soon trim this back .Well heres a few pics of what i got for a very reasonable price i might add, £70 delivered he sells them for (unbelievably cheap). The construction is polyester and the hull weighs just under 3 kg but ill weigh it later to check that.It seems very strong and rigid without been too heavy im very pleased with it .She will be powered by a stock zen ill post pics of all the hardware i have for the build a little later.

I just measured it and it measures 46 1/2" including the lip so when thats trimmed it will be about 46 1/4" and widest part of hull is actually 13" it measures 11" from chine rails across the transom so its not as narrow as i first thought which is good as i want a stable boat for rough water .By the way i just weighed it and it comes in at 6lb so its not bad at all really, all i need now is some resin to install the stringers .

well i just test fited the engine in the hull and it just touches the hatch ,i cant get it any lower than i tested it which gives me a little clearance under the motor and the hull.i think by the time i add a seal under the hatch it will just clear the plug by a mm or so.ill need to keep the engine pretty level cant get too much angle as theres not enough room under the hatch it should be ok though i hope .theres also just enough room to get the whole pipe in the hull and it will exit the transom nicely .

Mart, if theres a problem with the hatch let me know i will mould you a different type so the motor will fit better.[8D]

Hi Allan i think the hatch will be ok but once i get the rails installed and the motor fittted ill know better. Thanks for the offer and thanks for a great boat ,shes very nice im very happy .Do you have any ideas on a different type of hatch for it in case i need one mate.Any help you can give me when i come to join the hull and deck when i get that far would be great too .Ill need to order some resin before i can install the rails,i thought i had some but when i looked it was gone so now ill need to wait .What did you use for the trim round the hull at the join was it just the pvc panel edging if so where did you get it?.

Hi guys i had a play with some foam today to try some ideas for a hatch for the boat.I decided the engine needs to be on more of an angle and this means the hatch is too low,the only reason for this is that i have a clutch on the engine which makes it awkward. My plan is to find a shape i like and then cover the foam to protect it and glass it to make a hatch and opoxy it onto the existing one after cutting a hole large enough to accomodate the plug in the existing hatch .Let me know what you think or any better ideas you have ?.

Let me know what you think....
Seriously, that box is UGLY, put it in the bin, doesn't match or follow the rest of the hull.
I think I would just open what was needed and run the boat, you don't have to have everything covered and you need to get air in there as well.
Couple of driver heads/shoulders and it will look great.

Mart,
Give me the height of what the hatch will need to be and i will make a new moulding for it, i'll then make you a new type hatch in orange and post it to you. As Wb33y says perhaps an air intake and or driver / passenger mouldings may be the way to go. either way i'll put something together.....

w3bby shut it lol thats just a rough idea ,i am going to alter the shape some i added a scoop .Allan i like the lid as it is only way you can alter the height is to add a canopy as i have ok maybe the shape isnt right but this was just the first try.If you think you can make something along these lines but better id be very gratefull mate.Drivers hmm not sure ,sure i could cut a hole and run the boat i know that ,at the moment im throwing ideas arround and i see things better with prototypes rather than just on paper or in my head if you get what i mean. Can you show me some ideas you have in mind Allan ? thanks mate.

the black part would be the air intake and would be about 25mm high at the front tapering down to nothing at the back....
