name that boat
Hey guys . . i got a gas boat.
Not sure if i want to do it as a open mono and run a nice electric setup or not yet. I kinda want to see what all this zenoah stuff is about.
Here the boat.
BTW the paint it HOT i like the color and the gelcoat is very nice.
so who makes the hull and does it look familiar?

Yea I got it off my buddy at one of our club meeting. He run the boat in OPEN mono in our club
http://www.lousfastrc.com/T-Offshore.html
I think my boats finish is nicer.
I wanted to go electric because thats me, But money is tight
Zen was my other option. although i would not be able to run it at the clubs i belong too.
The hull is split yes. I am going to join it tomorrow. I taped it all and lined it up. Tack CA'd it in specific spots to be held unit i join it.

You can allways run it FE, but the boat was sized and hatched for gas... Plus i think you need a gas boat...for sport..

I was shocked to see who authored this thread, the guy that is always trying to get me to go electric![sm=lol.gif] Try a gas boat for once Taylor, you won't have to drag along all of those battery packs and chargers.
Seeing how you posted in here instead of the fast electric froum I have an idea that you really want to go gas. If you posted up there they'd want you to go electric.

Cool guy. I think the paint is HOT. and when you see it in the clear water on a nice day it will be reflective as all get out!.
Ron. LOL!!!!!!! i know i know. I do really really want a gas boat and this way it would be sweet. and i could then relate to what you guys are talking about in some way or another.
So searching around for a gas motor yesterday i came across the G260PUM its about 300 bucks what every way you hit it with a stick.
some people are more and some are less.
So i presume that this motor is easily modified . . which is a good thing !.
I will be lascutting stringers for the boat and mini bulkheads. What is a good thinkness? 1/4 or 3/8 or1/2 inch ?
as for hardware .. well i already know what I'm going to use.
For a buck eh. thanks i will google it and see what they are about.

Taylor use 1/4 marine or 5 ply for the stringers and you wont go wrong,as for motors there are plenty for less than $300 stock that is.If you want a bit more power say something along the lines of a mild modded zen then id suggest as Bob says a sikk 27 cc.These motors seem to be very popular right now and one won the uk offshore championships this year by a long way. They race for 20 mins or more per race so they have to be very reliable.I think the 27 cc sikk is 5 hp out of the box and with tuned pipe its 6 hp and according to a few guys over here running them they like a big prop as they have bags of torque.I think my next motor will be a sikk ,im def a converted fan after some doubts about the early smaller sikk.prices are similar to a stock zen so its probably a better buy at the min hope this helps.Heres one not bad price at $299 has mounts and carb linkage too.

RE: name that boat
I like the sikk Its cool But is there many mods for it. It will be slow after 3 runs. I'm used to 60 mph FE's so this will need to go at least 50 for it to me enjoyable LOL

RE: name that boat
i know a cpl of guys in the uk who mod them, probably the zen is the way to go as far as mods go as the sikk is a new motor in comparison so probably not as many guys modding them.mind you ,you have to pay a bit for a zen that puts out 6 hp .the sikk will get you 50 mph id say no problem,i posted a vid of one running on another thread and it really moves in a makara hull (apache) of 56".

RE: name that boat
Buy a stock Zen. for $200.00. Send it down here and let Toxic Marine mod it . He has done both of mine and they are considerably
more reliable and significantly faster than stock. As I recall, he gets ~ <$ 200.00. It's worth the extra jack.

RE: name that boat
Think someone needs to GOOGLE on preformance of a SIKK and the mods that HAVE been done ( or I should say , CAN be done )
And as far as 60's and higher ... can it be done with that hull ? Yes , BUT , ONLY with a bit of work done to her ( if you check the weight , she weights quite a bit for a hull that size and she also gets a bit loose after mid 50's )
And FTR - yes , its one of Verns hull . Not the best he's made , but a GOOD fun runner .
If your wanting a tried and true racer , then the hull you have is NOT it ( again ,not without doing a bit of hulls mods that is )

RE: name that boat
No i think i will go with the zenoah.
sure it will be a fun runner. not looking for any race qualitys in the boat. If i run it as gas yeah it will be just for the hell of it. electric is what i race.gas can just be something for me to sit off the back of my boat and fool around.
