Tunda,
Looking.....hum.. just might be room to make a strap that wraps around the cylinder and bolts to the back of the through bolts that hold the header on... not sure that made any sence.
Kind of like an old control line engine strap mount muffler.
Take care

Tunda and Mauian you guys are outstanding in how you are dealing with this situation. Any model boat company would be lucky to have guys like you as customers.
Kudos to the AQ reps for posting up and helping out and not remaining silent like most in this situation would. Its also nice that AQ offers a newbie a more affordable RTR which perhaps brings more people in to the hobby but as a first experience I wonder how many would stick around....
I think the only thing that could make the experience worse once the exhaust problem is sorted out would be to order some hop ups from a company that specializes in rtr accesories and have them not send your parts and keep the $$$.

Not to rain on your parade but I seriously doubt JB weld is going to hold together an previously oily, hot, vibration laden interface Maybe with some mechanical support, like a band/spring/clamp from the header all the way around the jug, maybe. Even so I'd say its pointless, any type of leak is going to kill the performance big time. Good luck.

RE: Quick fix Exhaust on RIO 51
I wouldnt dought that it would hold together. I have used it ever since my grandfauther told me what he used it in WW2. An engine block cracked on a willy's jeep and they need to get back to base. Out of all the supplies he had he used JB weld and fixed the crack! It ran good after that to get them to a safe area. If it werent for some JB weld somewhere in France my grandpa may not of been here today, and neither would I!!!! So use it because it is the best there is!!!!!!!!

Anyone remember the G23 Peanut motor? It had JBWeld added in some port area after the cutting was done. (but that was before the days of QuickDraws 'eh)

Saw one not that long ago (Peanut or Putty motor). Think they applied the JB before opening the ports. For anyone new to the motor - they open the transfer ports beyond the available case material. They were very quick in their day and still get attention today.

The way your exhaust broke there is alot of space for an aluminum weld , The one from ben's rio broke of complete and it was welded back together and still running with no other problems.

you should know that weld is just like a strong epoxy and possibly breaks off when the engine gets hot.

I have personally assisted with the welding of outboard engine blocks that were windowed. Some are still in service after 15 years. (non racing application)

RE: Quick fix Exhaust on RIO 51
Ken0276 come on man have you ever used jb weld? Heres an example of how well it can hold up; 3 years ago a race at jennings GP (motorcycle track) there was a squid that right off the start dumped his bike causing me an two others to crash, I pitted to find a gash in my header an a race I would be eligible to enter the next day, an the next. Two races I was NOT going to miss out on, out came the JB it closed the gap an held sturdy. Two races 12 laps apiece plus 4 warm up laps, 11,000 to 14,000 rpm constant 98-112mph average in 98+ degree florida heat. I still have that header its on a different bike but to this day has great flow an very sturdy. I think the type of abuse it would handle on the rio is negligable. As long as the main stress point on the header/pipe is not there then they will be fine

RE: Quick fix Exhaust on RIO 51
JB weld when applied to a clean prepped surface, with the right mixture is some pretty strong stuff. Ive repaired about a 4" crack in a block to be able to keep racing, and it held up for another 3 passes before splitting off in a different direction... while the jb weld still held the original crack sealed shut. And this was on a solid mounted smallblock that made over 600hp.

JB can take the heat i have used it on a car header that cracked it was a 454 it held for over three months till i got new headers,, like believe it said... preped right and claean and dry is the key and let it cure, there is a differance between dry and cured,, the thicker the longer...JB is awsome just dont rush it/// mark
