Well , I bit the bullet and bought one of these boats .
it seems that all of the recent issues have been addressed . Including the exhaust , that was a BIG reason I was debating on buying it or not . it does seem however that the fiberglass is thin on the top section of the boat . The reinforcing of that section will be a must , or cracks will be sure to follow .
I recently purchased the NEW Airtronics M11 FHSS .I also robbed the battery from a Mugen MBX6T for the reciever and servo pack .
New out of the box , the packing from the container had scuffed the paint job . Some wax and a good buff job will take car of the scuff . The wax will also take care of the issue with the roughness of the finish .
As I start receiving the aftermarket parts .I will update the building .

This exhaust set up leaked on the first run . We ordered a replacement aftermarket set up , it may also need some type of sealer between the plates .
If any of you guys have a solution to moving the coil to another location , please speak up with your ideas .
This is my first boat ....

Well , the project is moving along at a very good clip . I have the hull thickened up a bit swapped out the prop and finished the inside of the boat . I added the Boost Bottles and the goodies from Venom to dress it up a bit . I am awaiting one more item , and that would be the larger cooling head . Also the M11 @.4 FHSS system will possibly be a great upgrade .
I also relocated the coil on the side of the engine .It was in a tight spot .I simply moved it to the location where the ground lead was located . Easy fix .

Until next time .

those BOOST BOTTLES are the BIGGEST SCAM, sorry Im letting you know. If you putt 2 D size batteries in there place, you will get the same performance gains.. That switch is not water proof and will caroad & fail.

That switch is disconnected .I use my MX11 to turn the engine off .
Being this boat is for an 8 year old boy , it is very simple for him to apply the breaks to turn off the boat .
The switch is a mute point .
Boost bottles , my son wanted them .So I bought them . They look nice and I could really care less if they do or do not add to performance .
We have a set on his Baja 5T , and he likes the way they look .

Am I the only guy to install a cluth in this boat?

I bought the boat in June and decided to rip everything out of it. Upgrades include:

Zenoah G260PUM with WT-257- custom mount to fit with clutch
Bonzi Clutch
Bonzi Quiet pipe
Bonzi Silencer
Pro Boat Water Pump
Futaba FAAST Radio System 3PM 2.4g
Metal Gear Servo's
440 threaded Rods with ball joints on the rudder and clips on the servo
Took off the hull mounted water pick up
Replaced fuel tank with 500 ml IV bag
1/4 inch flex shaft with new Strut from speed master enclosed in custom Brass tubing
67/17 x 3 prop
Upgraded mostly to Stainless Steel Hardware
Epoxied the seams all the way around and fiberglassed the old engine mounts

Next is to strip it all and repaint the hull with a custom paint job, different props, redo the windows and hatch, and a dpu rudder.

FYI...for the radio box..

If your lid finger screws seem to not go in well or line up:
CHINA can't seem to thread the MIDDLE of the nuts!.... They are ALL off, which prevents the thumb screws from going in strait or easy...
My guess is EVERYONES is like this....

I don't have my camera, but I pulled the plastic that prevents the nuts from falling out...
and then pushed the nuts out.. THey are all off...so I replaced them with a real one... and then it went on line butter...
Just take a pice of fibeglass and CA in over nut...that way it will not fall out....

Really a quick fix... I will post pictures tonight....Not venums fault.... Just CHINA...type of issues...

.Cheers..

oh my you have the old style pipe on yours Hmmm
they do have a better tune pipe now for it even better just get the
proboat tuned pipe and say bye bye to your troubles.
the thing you have on now is junk and will allways go down on you.
I hope this helps. good luck.

regards
luc
The pro boat pipe/header is over priced and very noisy...
Get it if you don't mind having noise complaints...

I gues to you could tack another 40$ for a muffled stinger to the already 145$ price... But it still wouldn't equall the quality of other
aftermarket products out there... Hansen, BW, Macs...ect...

Double quiet pipes are the way to go...IMHO..
Or even a aircraft cannester...on a dry header setup...
When you need power with good sound...db control...

Hey KOSers/Segaders! Its been a while. This is where i was at last summer. The hull is currently stripped out again. Im installing all Warehouse Hobbies running gear. Stuffing tube, 1/4" flex shaft, 1/4" strut. I'll be running a 6717. Need to figure out how to balance and sharpen that. Also thinking about sending the venom 26cc into Tony to see what he can do with it. 29cc was mentioned in our last convo. I'll post current pics once she all back together and ready for 2011.

Zippkits sells a 6717/3 already balanced and fairly well sharpened, I've got a few of them.

Yup, I've bought 4 of them already as I have to have spares of what works. It's hard to find them raw for that price!

HOLY CRAP!!!! I'm loving that Zippkits!! Those prices are unbeatable. I just loaded up on a few things I needed, and a few things I dont. The prices are just too good!! Cant wait to finish my KOS. Once my 1/4" drive is all done, its off to the lake. Just gotta figure out what path to take for a power upgrade. Lots of options available. 29cc looking better each day. Gizmotors looking good, but also thinking about letting Tony have a crack at the zen clone first. I read about some dude owning a Segad with a 29cc Gizmotor and 6717 running allday in the mid to high 60's. YES PLEASE!!! Decisions decisions.

I buy a lot of stuff from Joe Petro at Zippkits. Four of the JAE 'riggers, two .12's, a .21 and a gas version). He's got great prices on motor mounts and the coolest servo mounts around!

I just looked down and I'm wearing my Zippkit's T-shirt!

A lot less blade area and a completely different shape. Compare them by visiting the sites. Some are using these on mono's also so I might try one out on mine just to see how it does.

The KWA is the very same as the CY/Sikk Toys engines. I'll have to see if I have any decent shots handy. They're basically the same for hooking up lines just like any other engine like Zeonah's or RCMK's.

I see some people are putting on a DPU rudder from Rocket City, but it appears the link is broken or that product is no longer being offered.
Do I just measure the overall length of the rudder? Or do you measure just the face of the rudder? I hope that makes some sense.

I don't know which one you're looking at as there are several on Brian's site, http://www.rocketcityracing.com/Rudders_c_68.html . What you might be interested in more is the amount of stand-off on the bracket as most gas boat rudders are close to the same length.
