43cc engine
I recently brought a 43cc engine
It has electric start and a clutch.
My question is
The clutch bell you see in the picture fitted to the engine would it be ok to use like that or would it be better use the black clutch bell in the picture.

I'd say no clutch at all Bry, unless you're going to water-cool it, as it is now it'll need a constant airflow past it to keep it cool. [:-]

it would be better to use something like the black one because the one on the engine is a reduction gearbox, but they both will need to be modified to run a flex shaft

RE: 43cc engine
Ive been thinking about water cooling
My project is big and will be heavy so i want to be able to place it on the water and use the clutch with the electric start.
With the water cooling if i wrap flexi brake pipe around the cylinder between the fins would this be enough to help keep it cool, the only problem with this is i might not be able to use the plastic casings.

Hey Bri thats very similar to my mates motor he just removed the gearbox and ran it, his was 50 cc though, dont bother water cooling it unless you are running under a hatch? leave the cowling on as this helps direct airflow to it as does the flywheel.hje ran it in a 72" hull and got close to 50 mph with it with a cannister no tuned pipe.

Hi Mart
I was considering making a hatch because i will be installing the battery and electrics for the electric start.
Imight do that with the gear box
How did your mate fit the motor in, do you have more pictures.

He was using a 470 which i told him was no good been too small so i recomended the x482 which gave him over 15 mph increase in speed. He clocked it on his gps at just under 50 mph on its first run with the bigger prop.Hes in Switzerland but we chat a lot about boats although hes working away in Itally for a few weeks at the min or id ask him for some more pics for you.
