Default Just bought a boat

Hi all,

I have been viewing this sight for years but finally decided to buy a boat. The guy I got it from bought it from a US model show on closing day. I got it at a good price but don't know anything about it. It has never been run but work done on it seems first class.

Any ideas as to who manufactors this hull. Any other info also greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Like I said I just got it this weekend so have not had time to try it out yet. It is certainly not made in China. It was built for an RC Boat show and sold at the end of the show. By the way it is "50 long and uses NOS cartridges. The prop still has to be installed and has a flexible cable for the connection. It also has what seems to be carbon fiber lining the whole inside of the hull. The hull is a vee hull but is not stepped. I though the top looked something like the DaVette tops.

This is a China made boat. I would know because I have one and spent countless hours working on the glass work. The shell on these boats are thin. Originally, the boat was red and had Coca-Cola logos. Also came with a stock homelite motor - reliable but slow. Every so often they appear on eBay for under $300.00 stock (not including shipping). I eventually replaced all the hardware including the engine and did the wrap to center but exited out-above the transom. Just be careful in the area where the canopy sits - the ledge is very thin. I bet the guy spent hours getting that boat in that shape - looks awesome.

Hi hawaiianed,

Could you upload a few pics of your boat? I will add a few more pics on the weekend for those who have asked.

Wow doesnt look like a China boat...From what ive seen, heard, and read the china boats definatley would not have carbon fiber laid in them as shown in pic one...Wouldnt see the original owner taking the time to put it in or the cost.

I am curious how you define a good price if the value of the item is unknown.

Never uploaded pictures before but will try in the next few days. The stock boat did not come with the carbon fiber hull and I'm sure it was added in for more strength to an already weak lay. The hardware on your boat looks like it cost more than what I payed for the entire boat stock. And from what I can see from your pictures, it's leap years from the stock setup. Nonetheless, go out and have fun with it.

Aloha!

So how much was it? It looks really aggressive. I like it. Not sure about the nitrous though. I just can't see it for boats.

Hi Justaddwata,

I paid around USD 1,000 which I consider a good price compared to other boats for sale around here, (Singapore), and to some of the boats in the for sale ads on this and other sites.
This is of course my opinion and I have been known to be wrong a couple of times in the past.

Paul M,

Also not sure about the nitrous. Seems like a good way to blow up a motor. I'm not planning on hooking up the servo which activates the selenoid.
