Well, I have been having some good times and fun with this boat!

That´s why it is still unpainted... winters are long and cold here so I thought to save that job later... yeah right...
I do have the decals on order though, have to wait and see how they will become.

It is fast and has some serious grunt with the QD engine! Torque is unbelievable!
But I just cant get it above 53 mph...
The best is 53,4mph and 18902rpms...

I dont know what to do.
Besides to send some email to Dasboata and get a new prop.
It came with a x472 preworked but not real b/s/p... I have been working on it myself some, but I´m no propman...

Usually the rpms are around 17500-18200 and speeds move around 50-53mph...

I have tryed to adjust the strut some and a 6717/3 by Dasboata, wich was a real great prop with my mono,
but it got a ding from a stick wich was thrown to water by some dog walkers... [:@]
It still works good in a straight line but when going in to a curve to right, it looses grip for a like 0,3 seconds and then grips again...

I did have a misshap also, when I was greasing the shaft and reinstalling it, I did not tighten the strut enough.
The flex broke due too big angle.

No biggie, bought some solderless system from Bonzi and was done with it.

Well, I did drill out the screw holes in the strut, to a good 1/4" bolt and nut, no more worries there.

Also I´m having some troubles with my Futaba 3PM Fasst. It looses signal sometimes.
I just disconnect power and leave it for a while and then its all good again...
It does not do it while driving though, luckily, only when in shore for a while to refuel and about to start again...

I´m thinking to go back to my Airtronics/Sanwa MX-3S computer synthesized FM soon... never had a trouble with that...

Oh yea, pics...

Broken shaft...

Mostly it is just plain fun!!!

I do know that this is no way to go above 60 mph but it happens sometimes though...

Here is a pic of her roostertail, it maybe needs some cup in to prop?

Nice acceleration, that QD is strong...

Time to refuel...

I don;t think your going to get anymore with that prop unless you have some work done on it. The 6717/3 would be a better bet. That's what I ran on mine. Send it back to Chris and have it reworked. I butchered my 6717 and he did a great job fixing it.

I would think you should be at least high 50's low 60's.

I would agree, Wrong prop.

Have Chris hook you up with a ABC 2716-15*/2 ..... You will see mid 60's IMO.

Also try the VooDoo 6520 with some tip cupping.

Have fun

Have you tried running it with one rudder? Bit less drag should lift the speed a touch.

Don't get me wrong I'm running the thunderbolt w a neurotoxin 26 zenoah with an x 472 and getting 58.7 on gps. But wating for the 3 blade 2716-15* and the 2 blade also but with 10* Just my two cents

No worries ...

I believe, as suggested, it is a problem with the prop efficiency (is that a real word?) as far as I can figure.

I think, I need to get me a new prop with some tweaks...

Erm... what is meaning with the markings after prop size, like the 15* or 10*?

Are those modifications to the rake or what?

Please, excuse my peasantry...

I have not tried with one rudder as of yet, but it will be done.
I´m not sure that it would cause such dramatic figures but helps thats for sure.

Thank you very much for these many tips on props, I´ll try to get me some of these and report back...

No problem, we love the pics!
Im seriously considering building this hull out for Open Offshore class in IMPBA. That way, I can run my Avenger in LSG Cat and not worry bout running it in two classes.

OK! Got one pic from inside for you!

Thats how I got mine, 1 real exhaust and 3 for breathing... I think they look great, I just wish I could find somewhere a fuel cap like Paul M used to have on his T-bolt, thats eyecandy and useful.

Well, how about those numbers after prop sizes? 15* and 10* and whatever, what are they?

Jyri

ps: yes, I know, I´m going to clean those wires away and inside the rails and there is a couple other minor things to do...

I want another fuel filler like that as well. They are no longer available. Here is one similar but more expensive. http://www.aircraftinternational.com/

Go to products then accesories and then fuel and smoke.

Very nice looking T-bolt you have there! [sm=teeth_smile.gif]
This is a very popular boat in Norway as well. Think we have 9-10 of them in the norwegian national cup in the Zenoah Class now.
Here are some pics of some of them. And you`ll find more inspiration here: http://www.ombk.org/bildearkiv.htm

Wow! Nice T-bolts! Just great pics too!

I have to look into that link you posted...

I have found out that there is a couple of Thunderbolts here in Finland too, and of course, a couple of knock-offs too, actually they seemed well made though...

What kind of speeds are you running with those T-bolts? With stock Zenoahs?
Any tips? Strut? Prop?

Well, today I was out and tested some strut adjustments and props, I destroyed the 7016/2.
Did not hit anything but the power of QD was maybe just too much... Blades folded themselves...
I guess it was too thin...

I´ll put up a pic when I get one...

Speeds remained the same, 80 to 85 kmh...

pic...

Well, no worries, lets get a new one...

Time to email Chris...

BTW, What would needle settings be for a walbro 603 in a Quickdraw?

Hi Jyri
Sorry to hear you have problem with the Futaba FASST system, I plan to buy just the same radio for my boat.
Pics looks great, I presume you shot them at the Masku pond?
I'm in Sweden at the moment but will finish my Sigma when I get back to FIN, perhaps you could gimme a hand and check my boat over before the first drive?

Hi Linus!

Well, about the Futaba Fasst, I have not had anymore troubles with it.
I think it might have been heat issues, I have read some topics about that around forums.
We had very warm weather here in Finland for a while, around 80* and so...
But now that temperatures have gone down a bit, there has not been anymore issues.
Besides, I moved antenna outside radio box and on to hull just to be sure...
As seen on pics with short antenna.

Yes the pics were taken in Masku.
I think I need to find a bigger pond, it is OK for racing and bashing fun, but for speed runs and cruising fun at over 50 mph, it is too small...

Give me a call when you get back and plan to do a trip to the pond.
I want to see your boat running! It will be great!

or you may raised the strut too much due to that prop broke, ask Chris if ABC can made a SS 2716 high raking prop for your boat.

rcboateric:

I have been thinking the same... Next time out I will try with lower setting on strut.

We have had bad weather and I have also been busy at work so there has not been much boating lately.(lame excuses...)

edit: OK, I admit, I am an old slotcar fan and got the slot in the head again... Well, it was because we had some poor weather and I doug up our slot car track and got carried away...
It all ended up in me buying a new slotcar set, SCX Digital system with pitboxes and all. It can be raced with six cars at same time in two lanes! Overtakes, lane changes, fuel consumption,pitstops...
We are having so much fun it is almost illegal!

But we are going to the pond on wednesday, if not before, looks like nice weather for weekend...

Thanks for the tip on prop!

Cheers!
