RE: Another Falcon build
Hi mate nice cat, im going to start one myself. Could you tell me what size fuel tanks your using and how are you going to plumb the fuel lines so each tank drains the same. Good luck with the build it looks great regards Clem.

RE: Another Falcon build
Thanks, Clem the tanks are 16oz. each, in theory this should work the tank closest to the carb will have both the pickup and the vent laying in the bottom. The vent from that tank will go to the pickup in the second tank. The second tank will have a third line for the return from the carb, and it's vent line will be high in the tank as you would do with a single tank setup. We do this with snowmobiles all the time when we add buddy tanks and it works great. You end up draining the last tank first then that whole tank becomes a vent then the second on goes. you can set up a couple of 1 gal jugs to see how it works with water, just start a syphon and watch it go.

Mr. Freeze, how you going mate. I Havent tested you system yet but are you saying that one tank drains and then the other or do both tanks drain at the same time? I think two tanks on the CG line is a great idear if both tanks drain the same so not to cause inbalance in weight on the hull. Mate it sounds cold where you are, it 15c here and its cold i must be soft.

RE: Another Falcon build
You have a point it will throw the balance off a bit, the starboard side drains first so the weight will be in the corner so I don't think it will make to much of a diference. I supose what could be done is have both tank pickups tee'd together then feed the carb from both, and tie the two return lines together. I would have to vent both tanks but I think this a better solution. Thanks for asking about it because you helped me solve a problem before I knew I had one. It does make more sence to have them drain at the same time in the boating application where on the snowmobiles it doesn't matter. This time of year we're loving life in the mid 70's but winter is around the corner and I can't wait to get sleds out for a rip.[sm=bananahead.gif]

RE: Another Falcon build
got the butch block from aeromarine yes it will mount through the hull with four flat heads and I will be epoxying a shim in the hull to match the contour of the bottom, doesn't matter to much because the tunnel is out of the water anyway I'll post more pics as I go along. I'm also making custom trays to secure the fuel tanks. With any luck Wicked Pickle will be on the water in a week or two.

Thanks for the compliments guys, Steve I may just do that. the trailer was built more for a stand than an actual scale trailer, but I think I have some diamond plate aluminum we'll see what happens.

Mr Freeze, I thought i would go back though the threads and see where you were up to on your build, sorry mate i didnt even see that you had posted a vid. Mate it looks real good seems to turn better than what mine does, what hight do you have your strut set to and what prop are you using. Mine slides around the corners when im giving it stick. You would be happy, mine gives me a big smile when its honking along.

here's a better shot of the transom, that video doesn't do it justice. It was the first run with guess-tament settings then the camera died I raised the strut up so the center of the shaft is about 3/8 inch above the bottom of the sponsons with just a little posative angle and she started screaming. The prop is a Whh aluminum 3 blade 70mm dia 1/6 pitch

RE: Another Falcon build
I thought I would dig up my old thread as I have found some issues with the origanal build. To start with the two tank idea, waste of time. The fuel tends to migrate to the outside tank do to cintrifical force, so I removed the inside tank. I have also ditched the Whh WTC header and pipe in favor of a 1" 105* deg header and 1" steel pipe made by a local shop, nice stuff by the way. http://www.heavymetalhobbies.com/ While I was at it, I said good by to the 644 power robbing choker carb and replaced it with a modded 257. This should realy wake up this kitty. The last time I had my pickle out, I had lost the drive shaft and prop, which really got my goat, so I changed over to a ferrule setup. And last but not least I added some bling to engine, because we all know how much hp you can add by making things pretty
I also added this sweet cooling ring thought up by Billium and put into production by heavymetalhobbies, it is a super fit just press it on and you have a new cooler cap.
now I can't leave anything alone when I get it so I had to be a little different [8D]
I will post up some videos when my props come in, and oh ya I picked up a gps so now I can get some ballpark numbers too woo hooo!

Brod, does the stuffing tube have a teflon liner in it? if so ditch it, just my opinion but they are more trouble then they are worth.

RE: Another Falcon build
No teflon.Strange, some flexs' last ages yet some snap and tangle after a tank or two.
Our 2 motors are not stockies' so do take a good beating, especially when the waters rough almost every visit,it certainly was last nite.
Is your new pipe quiet? the pipe matches the boat well.I noticed a good improvement in overall power from a WTC to a 105 header.
My pal also did last nite,in fact his was a massive differance with his 90 bend from a WTC same pipe.
You will too.

RE: Another Falcon build
It's not quiet but it does have a better sound then the aluminum pipe I was running. The guy that made it is making a line of mufflers soon so when he does I will post side by comparisons. After I run with this setup for a bit, I plan on having the engine modded by heavy metal. He has a dyno and I witnessed an engine test, all I can say is holy $#!+ He's a great guy to deal with and very meticulous.

Looking forward to see how the new GPS works, I have the E-trex and it has been hard to get it to finally work. Getting used to it now, got wet last trip. Be sure to wrap it up good, sandwich bag, bubble wrap, with some papertowels just in case. Let us see some numbers. I will be testing more today, my best 50.7 with M5-257. Looking forward to seeing what the 105% header and new pipe adds.
Good Luck;
