Out of those two.
The KOS would be your better choice.
But I would wait until all the bugs are worked out.

check out Aeromarine or WHH (warehouse hobby) aswell, they have RTR gas boats and would be better than the BJ55.

of the 2 i'd go with the KOS myself, BUT what do you intend on doing? ripping up the local pond, or racing? i think the blackjack would fair better in racing, where the KOS hands down has the cool scale look. i want a KOS.

is there any particular reason you only want a cat? i love my Rio 51 even with the possible header, and motor problems. mine is still intact. well i bounced her off a huge rock, but the bodywork is almost finished now.

unstable? hmmmm as i've been told a V is more stable, and not prone to blow overs like the cats, and hydros. flat calm water hydros. a bit of chop, and low winds a cat. higher winds, and waves a V. just my opinion though. i realy want a KOS. get there big motor as well. they claim it's a 4 hp i believe it is. http://www.venom-group.com/itemdesc.asp?ic=VEN%2D1827 it would still come in under budget.

Unstable??? You were misinformed. Any of these hull styles can become unstable depending on the conditions. Overall the mono designs are more stable than the rest due to their ability to handle a wider variety of water conditions. Oh yeah, welcome to RCU!

The only thing's you'll need is maybe a spare prop for different conditions, some spare fuel & water line, a spare spark plug, some miscelaneous screws, nut, bolts & grub screws, hatch tape and grease. and maybe some zip ties.

That's what I love about boating, when I go to the races I don't need to carry a bag or 2 of spares & tires with me. You don't have to sit out because of broken boats nearly as often as with buggy racing.

I have no experience of either boat and about 1 months (probably less than 1hr of actual drive time) on gas boats, so my input is limited. Have a look at the Aeromarine Avenger Pro. I picked up one in stock format and it looks like it really runs really quick (v. good accelleration). However, my only actual first-hand comparables are a Arrowshark Princess and Aeromarine XXX.

You can get an idea of how my stock runs in this thread http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_7776048/tm.htm. Aeromarine does a Quickdraw version for $US1,850.

Good luck in your choice.

Found this video on Youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usxwOL7gF34 of the Avenger Pro with the Quickdraw. The video notes say it was GPS's at 56mph - 58 mph.
