Matheengines.com sell one but I am unsure as to their price currently. It is a bigger and heavier box but also rated to around 30hp. Last time I priced one it was less than MH$ - and that was before MH$ pumped up their prices 30%.

Theres one other but the company name is escaping me right now.

Default RE: gear box

i thought thier prices went up. when i bought my s6 drive a year ago it was over $100 less. I'm planning on replacing it with counter rotating surface drives due to the issues i keep hearing about the stern drives. any advice? I'm trying to keep the scale appearance of my apache and ive never instaled trimax style drives or a gearbox and more importantly, never plugged a transom hole where an s6 used to be. pretty big hole to fill. what will i need to complete this?

Yep - went up 30%+. Look at the $405 stern drive that is now $520 - $560.

To fill the hole I would cut a piece of wood to almost match the hole. I would reinforce the transom with wood and glass from the inside then put the plug in the hole and epoxy in place. Then fill around the gap, sand and paint. (Easier said than done!!)
