Great result mate,Marcel my betting is he stuck the rudder on the left to avoid prop walk.Lots of guys in Aus seem to use rudders on the left and having them on the left doesnt increas or decrease the turnability in either direction in fact it makes no difference at all on a cat or a hydro.I have the rudder on the left on my hydro and she turns awesome to the right ive also installed one on theright side and turns are just the same.

Hello Marcel;
Thanks for your reply. Yeah, as I said, I am very pleased with the first results. Now I am going to experiment with different props. I haven't made up my mind, yet, whether I run the pipe outside or inside. I already got me a 4" header from B.H. Hanson. It would alow me to stuff the pipe completely inside. Only a small hole needed on the left transom. But it's very cumbersome to install the motor with pipe nad header. It's a knuckle buster. That's why I haven't installed the canopy. If I run the pipe inside I don't need to butcher my nice canopy. I should have made two canopiesYou are asking why I have my rudder on the left side. The reason is simple: In the turns the servo arm is pulling on the push rod and ot pushing. From the steering it is absolutely irrelevant on which side the rudder sits.Coming Sunday we have another race and I am planning to participate. I will use a canopy for sure for this race.

Thanks, mates
You bet I had a big grin on my face. Simply because I didn't expect such a result without any major tweaking. The boat ran literally handfree. Actually it flew over the water. At one point it headed into a stiff breeze and got airborn for a split second. I was quick on my left index finger and could avoid a blowover. With the canopy on a am hoping to get a little more down force.

Here is my latest. Primed her today.Marcel, you are gonnabe proud of me. I was able to hide the pipe completely inside. And you thought my 48"cat is not big enough for that. I even made an end muffler and stuckit on the endof the pipe. TomorrowI will have another testrun before our race onSunday. Now I am going torun her with the canopyon, which should help herto run mor stable. Without it she was very light on the sponsons. I hope toget more down force. Here are some pix.

Looks good mate, there is quite a bit of room in that sponson for the pipe, I had mine sitting in there a while ago. When are we going to see a vid???.

Alex , that looks great! Love the internal pipe! With a wrap forward header the pipe can even be shorter
Here in europe we need to have a mufler so our pipes are longer and thicker because of the integrated muflers we run.
That is what the hull was designed for.
I really love your version, runs great, looks great, what more you want

The 48" version is looking great. It's greatto have ascratch builthull run great on the maiden voyage.... Looks like it's time to paint now
I have to say the 55" version is a challenge getting into the Lincoln Continental to take to the lake....
What prop are you running on your hull???

I am still experimenting. I ran a 6518 Voodoo, I tried a 6717 and now I run a 6516. The 6516 is just as fast as the 6518, although I haven't GPSed it with that prop, yet.. I have to put some weight inthe nose to keep the boat from blowing over in choppy water and when it's windy. She runs really light on the sponsons at full speed. I looks like she is even faster with the canopy on. I also have to make a longer rudder. So ,there are a couple of improvements to do, to improve high speed handling.Other then that she is one fast running cat. Next time I am gonna GPS her again. I 'll let you guys know.
