Oi m8. You're not wasting any time. Maybe you'll need a couple more driving lessons before this ones maiden voyage I hope it all goes well.

Thanks m8, I hope they don't replace buoy 5 again, Hate to think what would happen if the Ibox hit it .

Looks good mate,no problem if your boat hits a buoy theyre as strong as glass boats if you build em right .I allways strengthen any seams with glass tape and epoxy too.

Nooh,
Sound like you have plans to do things differently. Just wondering what? I made some changes and additions to mine. The build is complete but I still have some finish paint work to do.

Hi Mart, m8 am going to use a lot of glass and epoxy I want to make sure she is solid. And Rick I saw your boat before, yours and others that are on here is the reason I wanted to build one. I'm really not sure how or what I'm going to do with it, just go with the flow as im building her, one thing I know is that I will have a clear windscreen in the cockpit but Rick tell me ??? what size are your Crew they look great and just spot on in scale.

Nooh,
The "crew" are from Horizon. They are very lightweight plastic for a 60-90 size airplane and they come all painted for around $20 each. They offer three different paint schemes too. I filled them with foam from a pool noodle and hold them in place with velcro. I have 3/8" thick balsa under them to raise them up a little because they couldn't see through the black windscreen!!

No need to go mad with the glass cloth and epoxy mate, all i did was add a few 1" strips on the seams of my hydro.

Not going to go mad Mart, I am going to follow the direction as it says, must admit its the best building instruction booklet I have ever come across who ever wrote it done a good job.

And rick in OZ the only figures I could find is the one in the pic, $28 from hobby depot, just not quite sure on the scale yet will maybe know more when I get to build the cockpit.

These cracker boxes are approximately 1/4 scale, so drivers should be fairly large if you really want it to look scale. Doug

Thanks Doug these guys are
Aprox. Size
Shoulders- 3"
Height- 3 1/2"
Hard to tell at this early stage if they will look ok. Funny I only started building this boat and Im worried about who's going to drive the bloody thing.

Plus these are the only ones I found here in oz, well there are lots of Pilots ones in the hobby shops but they just don't look right.

Henry.

Nooh

You could have a look at K-mart, Big W and Toys R Us. That's what I'm doing for my upcoming Man-O-War build.

There are loads of figures that could be potential drivers and they should cost between $5 to $20 each. They could be WWF wrestlers, soldiers, car drivers or may be Ken and Barbie

Cheers

Nooh,
I think the ones you found will look just fine. Mine are actually just a little smaller than I would have liked them to be but they will just have to do! When I saw them in the hobby shop I thought they were just the right size but like I said, they will do!

Have been keeping a look out JC but nothing as yet, Then really don't want ken and barbie in the boat ???? never know what they might get up too. and Rick I think your drivers are ok scale wise they look just right. Didn't do much building yesterday too bloody hot, even my 1/2 hour epoxy was going off in a few second. crazy. [:@] bit cooler today so hope to get back into it. Thanks for all the advice..

Sides are on, Glad I brought extra clamps but had to fiddle around a bit in the front to keep the sides in place.
