72" is perhaps a bit big unless you live right on the shore line. How would you get it too and from the lake. Not saying there aren't RC boats that size out there just food for thought.

Mine is 55 inches long and a stock marine engine producing slightly less then 3 hp pushes it to about 35 MPH. Considering that a 72" would be roughly 30% bigger and that a chain saw/weedeater motor may not produce the power and rpms of a purpose built marine RC engine you may have no trouble capturing still photos of her.

If this is your first boat perhaps one of the sale items at Warehouse hobbies would be the place to start. You can buy it in kit form and enjoy the assembly experience.

You'd also have the added bonus of being able to blow the oars off of any homebuilt 72" weedy with a chain saw motor in it you might come across on Lake Winnipeg.

That seems a little more resonable.

Good luck with it.

are those dougs plans?
i am using those to make a mould i got a local printer to scale the size down to 60 inches.
looking at using a blata or polini clone pocket bike motor for giggles
hopefully it should be able to overtake full size boats on the river
i have almost completed the mould just gotta add some strakes then i should be able to pop out a hull

The Zippkit's boats are great buys and it saves you the hassle of buying the wood, cutting it and all of the other things that you'd have to do to even get close. The kits go together so fast you'd swear that you messed up somewhere.
