RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok some pics of the plug at panel shop as you can see i made the shape solid no hatch so i could mold prototype hull to test and change if needed the black and white boat is boat number one this boat housed during testing a zenoah to begin with then a 90 nitro motor so i could get a basline how the hull wil handle at 40mph range and high 60mph range
This boat was soon destroyed with a high speed accident into several thing on the embankment [] rocks tree and truck

I can answer that one. Yes, they are one in the same. My molds were built using an "extra heavy" layup to be used as my plugs. The only thing I changed was the hatch opening area and the modifications I did with the hatch itself.

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Yes as Scott said above
I would go as far to say his mold is better than mine i have not remoulded mine as yet as i want to use the hatch that he changed a little but other than that they are identical
As for number 1 boat we were doing speed runs with radar it had a 90 picco or cmb i cant recall but roughly 8 hp and a bunch of revs my mate set it up was technically his boat hahaha
As i built a second test boat for more testing with zenoah
Last run we did it was showing high 60s on radar and it proceeded to get un settled lift off water an head towards us on the bank holding the radar
As you guys know rudders dont work on boat if they are airbourne next move was to run for cover then it hit the beach with rocks catapulted into a tree and then my mates 4WD the boat was a total wreck
Now a warning guys do not do radar check on fast boats and have them coming at you use a gps or some other form of way of measuring speed we were lucky we did not get seriously injured or killed
I now have a eagle tree telemetry and ADS speedo to use and a bit more common sense

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok some of the mold pics notice i have tempoary hatch ridge in my mold did this till i was kind of happy i had the hatch shape i wanted
Hatch is a bit small but i wanted it that way so the deck would remain a structural part of boat and reduce twisting under load

High 60's is incredible. Was she stable before lift-off? I was wondering if that hull could handle such fast speeds. Just wild......

No pictures of the wreck?
Go point on the radar gun. I use GPS but had never really given the safety factor much thought.
High sixties sounds nice!

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Remember we had big power it was a 90 cmbnitro motor approx 8 to 10 hp not a gas motor that we used
Most quickdraws in avenger will hit low to mid 60s
Yes was stable around mid 60 bit wild after that but i guess what boat wouldnt be
Test boat ran 53mph with mild mod zenoah 26

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok time for some more pics
I use FGI products great company has every thing you want in fibreglass if you in Australia
My layup for the cat is 225 chop strand mat with a 325 gram E Glass cloth an a vinyl ester resin but a good quality general purpose resin is also good and cheaper
The methop i use is to mix a lightweight bog usually carbosil put it in the problem areas like sharp edges an corners then wet whole job out with resin and place 225 glass in first i roll it and use small brush to get air out of laminate and excess resin then place the 325 gram woven cloth straight over the laminated 225
I do not add any more resin unless i really have too as the woven cloth will soak up the resin thats in the 225 if you do have a dry area just apply a little resin the idea is to get a good finish without the puddled look and keeps weight down

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok now that i have laid the deck and hull up i wait till its ready to green trim with a sharp knife once i have done this i let it sit for the rest of the day and following morning i clean the edges up mix a slow joining bog with gelcoat and carbosil use a putty knife and place the bog on the joining edges of deck and hull getting the right ammount takes experimenting but if not sure better to have a little to much than not enough
Now both halves are bogged i bolt the hull and deck molds together firmly
Ive made a slow bog that will take about an hour to go off so before it goes off i do the painful job of glassing the 2 pieces together on the inside with layer of 325 gram woven tape
Ill just add this is a right pain in the you know what im sure Scott of dreaming hemi will agree on this as its the same boat as his
Need to have words with the fool who designed it (that would be me )

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
That would be great thanks PM sent.
All we can get here is chinese knock-offs and I am sick of their stuff. Getting the boat from Dreamin would be double the boat costs in transport. NOT his fault just the transport from USA is very expensive.
Thanks

Hesco, the shipping alone from the States would be over $400 US!

RE: NVS NEMESIS CAT BUILD
Ok back to i remove the cat from mold after joining just un bolt the two mold halves an gently pry them apart releasing the hull as you see im left with a little flashing on the join of finished product
On gelcoat finish hulls i just lightly sand the join and dress it with wet an dry sand paper but this hull will be painted so ill let them do it
