RE: EASY VEE BUILD *NEED MORE HELP* (almost done bare with me)
went ahead and got some pictures... here are pictures of top deck and windshield ( wind shield isn't glued on yet)looks pretty good I think I also posted a ton of pictures of the muffler and engine and was wondering if you guys could tell me if I'm hooking it up right (I show how I hooked it up step by step in pictures)
in the pictures youwill see Ionlyused 1 of the 2 green gaskets... Where does the 2nd go or is it an extra?
I also showed my water and gas lines... where does the gas line hook onto the engine ( I show all the possible places it could go)
for the water line it will go frmo my rudder intake to a tee fitting... the t will split it for the exhaust and engine... where does each water line go on the engine exhaust parts? I am totally lost...
hope you understand this and the pictures and hope you can help
thanks so much in advance
stacked:a happy builder!

i used the epoxy for really deep nooks and crannys and then a water proof wood filler for blocking and sanding it from elmers then i did the finishing resin
ORIGINAL: stackeddeck
hey guys I got the top deck on.... looks great! I will put pics tomorrow.. was wondering how to fill the really small cracks where the side and top panels meet? epoxy? something else? they are small but I think they need filling... also some questions about paint...I bought some "Model Masters turquoise metallic enamel" spray paint... will this look shiny like automobile paint or will it at least look good? I also bought a clear coat to spray over it its called a clear gloss coat.. anyway.. thats it

you need a water outlet like this one you drill a hole in the side of the hull screw this in and secure the hose to it and your talking about metal flake paint im sure witch you can get in a rattle can but best to find a painter to do it, you can grab a water outlet on ebay for a buck but make sure it has a long enough threaded section to go threw the hull and have enough to still thread a nut on being a wood hull its a lil thicker

RE: EASY VEE BUILD *NEED MORE HELP* (almost done bare with me)
first off you need another part for the fuel tank and different fuel line, you need a "Gas conversion stopper" from Dubro, don't be tempted by the Sullivan one, they will die in short order... the silicone fuel line included with the tank will last about 5 minutes in gas, so you need Tygon or something else that will last with gas
second off, if you bought a Dubro tank, they have instructions on putting the tank together on the back of the label. Basically what you do is stick the 2 tubes into the stopper with the plastic nut and washer parts on their appropriate end and bend one of the tubes so that it goes in that little dimple in the top of the fuel tank, this will be your vent line, the other will go to the carburetor on the side of this inside the tank you will want to put a piece of fuel tubing on the inside with that clunk on the other end, the clunk will weight the line so that it follows the tank. if you want to have a separate fill line stick a 3rd tube in (I think it's a hard plastic one in that kit) and that will be your fill line, stick a piece of fuel line on it so that it goes to somewhere you can get to it then plug it with a screw, you can also bend this tube down twards the bottom of the tank so that you can drain it with your fill pump if need be. The vent line needs to have some fuel line going from the outside of the tank, looped twards the other end of the tank and below the bottom of the tank then wherever you want it to go from there, routing it like this will keep gas from spilling when you move the boat around

the right stopper is a dark red in color, the 3 pieces in the pictures are the outer washer, rubber stopper and inner nut, you will use the outer washer and inner nut but that white rubber stopper will only last a matter of minutes in gasoline

Hi Stacked If you are going to use the Metal Flake Paint make sure you shake it very well and shake it many times during the Application to keep the Metal Particles from settling to the bottom. If you are going to go to an Automotive Paint store and buy the Paint (expensive) You will need to put several Marbles in the Paint Pot so when you shake it the Marbles keep the Metal Flakes in suspension and not allow them to settle to the bottom. the Rattle Cans (Duplicolor Paint ) are the best bet for a Beginner unless you have someone avaliable with a Paint Booth, Air Compressor, and all the Knowlege to show you how to use the Equipment. Doug.

You can get the Rattlecans at Autozone or any other Parts house also Wally world and other Big Box Stores you may even Find them in Home Depot. No Normally they will not shed the Metal Flakes I would try to see If I could find a Clear Coat to go over the Finish after the Paint has Dried for Several Days to a Week to make sure all of the volitiles have flashed off and the paint is completely Dry. BUT if you Clear Coat your Boat you will have a lot of work wetsanding and Polishing and Buffing it out to get that wet look. Doug

Dude! I am so sorry to have taken so long to read this and help..I am so glad to see youve gotten such good advice and it is very good advice indeed...The boat looks fantastic to me..being your 14 with no previouse experience I am way impressed and thats not easy for me to do...
I sent you a very long email tonight giving you step by step instructions for painting.hope it helps..and you asked about hooking water up to everything..I made you a water manifold it has a conection barb for 4 tubes...you have a water intake on the rudder so hook one end of tubing up to the barb on top of the rudder and run it to the bigger barb on the end of the manifold Ill post a pic tomorrow for ya..then run one line from the smaller barb to the barb on the side of the engine cylinder head cooling jacket..run another tube from the other barb on the manifold to the top barb on the exhaust header and finaly run a tube from the last barb to the bottom of the exhaust header...now that gives frsh cold water to everything...now then I made 2 manifolds for ya hook tubing from all the exit barbs on the engine and exhaust header into the other manifold and run a piece of tubing from the last conection on the manifold to the water outlet..this way you only have 1 hole in the side of the boat to contend with..
Ill post pics tomorrow and ill try to do better keeping up
