Hi Eddy,
Good info. I saw the video of that inboard/outboard set up ran on You tube. So the next progress in the rc world is to make a replica of the UIM F1 (if it materialise) like the MHZ drive.
So one will be shouting out " it's a cat with a funny deck " lol. I guess Dom now will take the cue and start going IB/OB set up.
Happy boating guys.

Hi Dom,
Thanks for the heads up on the purchase of the first of the ten units. I'll make sure they don't run away with the design and fabricate it elsewhere.
That was a 2009 design. No one else has it here so it would be easy to see a splash. If they copy the hull, then I'll have to introduce an upgraded version and sell at a lower price LOL.
Just like computers, you get one this year, it will almost be outdated in terms of softwares etcetc. by the end of the year.
Hopefully it doesn't come to that.
Rgds.

RE: GAS F1 INBOARD TUNNEL HULLS
That system is a far cry from what this thread is about. In your cats with funny decks you still have a fixed drive system with a steering rudder. The caudwell system is still a steering prop. There is no rudder on the boat. Once you take way the prop thrust steering a boat it is a cat. You can fight against that fact as long as you like but that is the fact.

Hi Cobus
Just to set your thoughts at ease- and to agree with you in the big picture- However -we are CURRENTLY in the throws of developing an INBOARD version of our own, that 'turns the thrust'.
However - for now- the CAT F1 INBOARD class is a very affordable "appealing" class which certainly seems to be grown in popularity - There is a good chance that there will be more F1 INBOARDS than CATS at the NATS !
Looking forward to seeing you all there.

RE: GAS F1 INBOARD TUNNEL HULLS
Morning guys.
Dom im awaiting to hear the results of this unit,im not saying whose unit it is but all i can say so far the results are impressive its also been tested with a fully tuned billet zenoah producing over 6.5 hp.
As soon as its available im planning on getting 1,also they are also testing a new billet machined outboard leg and thats impressive looking bit of kit aswell, also again been tested with the same engine.
So should both be solid units, but they are putting them to the limits to see how tough and long they will last.
Ill keep you all posted once iv recieved the info back.

We will have 9 cats running in our club by April. Not one is and inboard F1 style. It is all down to availability and price. If the boats are there guys would buy it.

RE: GAS F1 INBOARD TUNNEL HULLS
That's what I've always wanted to get right when I first saw the MHZ S6. But now when I have the means to buy, they no longer sell.
Can I be the second one on the list please Daz. It will be the state of the art tunnel running with this kind of hardware. Steerable prop thrust and all.
Rgds.

Hey Daz i think the name on the side is a dead giveaway it says Arrow Shark on the side lol.Id personally rather go with the steerable struts than this setup,no gears inside just a direct drive that turns.
Mart
maybe something simple like this.

Hi Daz
Listen - dont get to exited- remember - it has to work to.
Looking at the configuration- its not a simple unit. There will be a 'few parts'
I reckon if you are going to spend more time LOOKING at your boat, rather than driving it, and have 'plenty of cash lying around', it will be a good choice, but, I have no doubt - it will be EXSPENSIVE and require some constant maintenance.
Anyway- for now its another one of those "wait and see" products.
To paraphrase a wise quote
"Whilst some men wait and see - they get left behind by others who simply get on with it"
Have a cool weekend Guys !

Hi Daz
The world of manufacture's could do with more folk like you LOL.
BUT - as you say- "I think there is enough past exsperience to acknowledge that' it sure looks good'- but- could in no way beat the simplistic cost and performance of a regular strut and rudder.
Some things are just made to look good !

Hey Dom
LOL I'll take that as a compliment
I agree the simple ways are the best ways.
But isnt the world of modeling also about scale looks and fun aswell not just racing.Thats not a dig either, the racing just adds more of thrill to it and taking part and seeing if you can fine tune to beat them LOL
As you know im building my 1st gas F1,im excited and looking forward to getting it on the water, but im more excited to build the next model to make it better than before(touch wood,i hope LOL)

Hi Eddy,
Thanks for the link.
If the full scale is going to go that way, it might be worth my while to design one hull to be fitted with these out drives.
I'm sure the problem of where to put the pipes could be worked out.
Rgds.
