RE: Building Boat Help
Jacob, first welcome to the site. First, you've got quite an undertaking there with a 9' boat as that's going to be fun to transport much less launch.
Ok, hopefully you're not planning on using your typical garden variety weedeater engines for power. I'd be looking for something with a lot more oomph to it. As far as counter-rotating engines go, RCMK makes them that are the easiest way to go including pull-starters.
This is a friends 92" Cat to give you an idea of what you're going to be up against: http://www.classonerc.com/Webgallary...ect/index.html

Welcome to the forum.
An 9ft cat is an ambitious project. Is this to be your first gas boat? I should think the counter rotating cable would be the least of your concerns/challenges. As Ron has mentioned - going to take some power to move a cat of that size (and weight). That kind of power is easy to counter rotate. I dont believe any garden variety weedwacker will have the power to really move such a boat real well (and I run the most powerful weedwacker they make). You would be looking at an investment of around $1600 for a pair of [link=http://imageevent.com/justaddwata/myboats/geicocat?p=31&n=1&m=-1&c=2&l=0&w=4&s=0&z=4]decent motors (Inline RCMK's or Zenoahs) to get her moving[/link].
[link=http://imageevent.com/justaddwata/myboats/geicocat]My 8ft cat is an Epoxy/Glass/Carbon build[/link] and ready to run weighs around 65 pounds (I am guessing but it is HEAVY) and that is with zenoahs for power (Zenoahs are pretty light weight).
I have some detailed images of two 6ft cats that may be of help. http://imageevent.com/justaddwata/mo...fo/jollymotors and http://imageevent.com/justaddwata/morerc/info/pip (Let me know if any additional pics or info is needed).
