Default OPS .67 Questions

I've got an OPS .67 I was told by a local rc shop that it was probably a Redhead Super, but can't find much on what that means as far as difference between the regular .67. My main question is does anyone have a suggestion on an outrigger hull I can put it in, and are is there a place I can learn more about the engine? Thanks 👍

ops depending on how old your motor is has i think 5 versions of the .67
there was the 3 port and 5 port sleeve
bushed or needle bearing connecting rod.
front intake side exhaust
front intake rear exhaust
rear intake side exhaust
rear intake front exhaust
then they had several carbs
there were differences in the head swuish band.
venturi (used with exhaust throttle) or control line
perry carb
slide carb small and large throat
they had another carb they built that actually had a decient idle that made power
several carbs that had no real idle at all 7k rpm if u call that an idle.

the next bad thing is without a good set of pics and then removing the head which sleeve
it has it is next to impossible to find what model you have. leaving out i have found do not pay too close
attention on the box as many motors did not get into the correct box.
i have close to 50 of this brand 40/45/60/65/67
great motor once you figure out its sweet spot on head gasket spacing with a specific pipe
THE CORRECT PIPE IS CRITICAL for getting the proper performance.

remember this motor LIKES rpms
do not use only synthetic fuel have some caster
for a rigger u generally wand
30 to 50 % nitro
24 to 27 k rpm
3 % caster is what i used
NITRO pipe it does make a difference
fuel even minor differences in the blend really screw up performance
tune, tune, tune head gasket, and glow plugs.
watch the plug deformed elements mean your tuning is not yet correct
more gaskets in the head is generally better (less compression)

now that i did not fully answer your question the devil is in the details
the fastest motor useually has
venturi long throat
exhaust throttle
5 port sleeve
needle bearing rod
nitro pipe
remote throttle control for fine tuning

good luck
setup takes a lot of time on these motors
minor changes can make a world of differences.
