when i am running my nitro hammer and i give it full throttle, it will go to max speed and then after a few seconds, it will slow down a bit and keep going. is this right? or am i running it too rich?

You're getting closer. Now try it just a tad more richer to see if that helps. The good old spit test will give you some clues. Run it full throttle, bring it in as fast as you can, pull off the cover and place a drop of water on the head to see how fast it vaporizes. If it sizzles, bubbles quickly then it's too lean. If it's cool enough to where you can touch the water-cooling jacket for a few seconds then you're close or slightly rich.

Rich is always better. A lean condition is harder on the motor with the least of the worries blowing glow plugs.

You want good compression. Low compression is bad, it means that your motor is ready for a rebuild. Hard starting, no power and problems keeping it running are signs that it's due for some work.
