Default Which nitro boat? 200$to 350 $

the boat i have right now is just about dead, and my brother wants to buy it, and i was going to get a new one anyway , but there are so many boats out there, i just don't know which one to get.
I want a good nitro boat that can handle some waves and is fun to cruise around with. which one would be best?>>the Nitro Hammer, Aquajet, Miss budweiser, Grey thunder,or the schockwave 36. and if there is any others u think would be good, please let me know

thanks [8D]

I'd go with the Aquajet or Nitro Hammer. The Miss Bud can't handle any waves, The Grey Thunder has funky steering (I have one). No input on the Shockwave 36 yet as I don't think it's out yet. Do a search in here on the above boats to see what owners of these boats think. Some are in this sites Product Guide also.

I am new to RC boats also and am looking at my first. Any thoughts on the Megatech Wicked Angel .16 Pro-Competition Nitro? I am intrigued by the speed 35mph+ stock. Any feedback would be appreciated.

OK, here's the skinny on that boat. Weak plastic hull, reports of grease in the clutch and a hard to tune carb. 35 MPH? I don't think so. RCBM did an article on it and if it did do 35, it would have been the fastest boat in their head-to-head challenge.

Ron,

Thanks for your reply! What would you suggest for a newbie looking for a 30MPH+ ready to run boat? Your feedback is appreciated!

For 30+ MPH boats, they're aren't a whole lot of them at the moment unless you want to go Gas powered then you're looking at a $700.00 price tag. The Nitro Hammer is the closest that I've seen in the 30 MPH range if not there.

The Shockwave 36 has been introduced but I don't think that it's out yet. I could be wrong. I'll see what I can find out.
(Update) Horizon Hobbies is showing the boat as out of stock which translates into it not being released yet.

my nitro v rides easy over chop id agree it kinda underpowered i might put a trx2.5 in it, however the stock motor its easier to tune than any of my cars, the i/o setup with the outdrive works well for me but i switched to a bronze prop becuz i think the plastic was flexin and cavitating

OK go to www.offshoreelectrics.com

then look at the Aquajet RTR. its 300 with a .16 engine an does 30. its a great hull an its a blast in the chop. an once u get sick of that speed you can get a .18 in it that they also sell there. i believe that the aquajet is onsale at his site. there are videos of the electric verson doing 30+ an its fun. then there is a link to go to on that site that leads you to a full video an picture site. i beleive that there is a nitro aquajet in there somewhere.
Good luck.....personily i like the aquajet my self because u cna easily upgrade it an its faster than the nitro hammer. but then again that hull is fiberglass but you cant realy change the props much because the prop is under the hull. with the aquajet there are no limits with that.
Good luck an have fun!

okay my brother just got a nitro hammer and we went to the pond and pulled the chord and the entire the thing was shot!somthing to do with the spring. so he had to take it back and he will have it back thursday. so i will go with the nitro aquajet. i noted from the pictures, i believe it doesnt come with a tuned pipe. could i just use the one i bought for my .15 engine? its the same tuned pipe used on the nitro hammer. thanks

i dont think it will do much for just a .16 engine. you can try just make sure you dont blow the moter when its tuned out. it will do 30 MPH the way it comes. then you can keep changing the props to try to see if u can get more speed.
good luck

people are always saying things of the nitro hammer and how fast it is doing 25 - 30 out of the box, why dont people talk about the aqua jet and how it does 30 out of the box?

I bought the Pro Boat Shockwave 36 today at my local hobby shop, it looks great, fibreglass hull and stainless steel hardware, brass prop. I canvased all the local r/c boaters who came in the hobby shop and after looking at it they all said it appreared to be a great boat for the money!!! I haven't put it in the water yet, may have to wait untill monday as I work this weekend and then I am on vacation for seven days!!!
