Default Possible Mod ?

Question...

Has Anyone changed the Head on their Boat Engine ? If so what type and was this a mod ?
What was the change a plus ? I noticed that you can do this on the Nitro on Road Car's but,
I don't think I have seen it on any boats...

Just curious.

Ron,

I don't know ...i was on the Nitro Sedan forum and noticed this...so is this too general ?
My engine on my Hammer is a .15...can you change the head on it and will it give performance
enhancement ?

Thanks

I still don't know what changes that you are talking about. I run air-ccoled heads on my little boats but they get a lot of cooling air as the heat sink sits high enough. I've taken one head and cut the top 3 fins off and the engine was still running too cool. With it under a hatch, you might run into overheating problems trying that.

Ron,

Could possibly be talking about the removable head buttons that are fitted on a lot of engines, although I have no idea whether the engine on the hammer has this type of head.
On the 91 I tend to swap between single and twin cone heads (along with different shims) dependent on conditions etc.

I'm not sure either at the moment. I don't know if there are any alternate head chambers made for that engine. It's what we'd consider a "sport" engine, not really made for racing or to be a speed demon. There are some mods that can be done in other areas such as a larger carb, port matching and raisng the sleeve to change the intake and exhaust timing.

Sounds like an experienced machinist to get that done... rather go up to a larger engine..
Say .18 ?
