K & B 7.5 outboard Tuned Pipe
I purchased a Lap Cat II and K & B 7.5 outboard about 15 years ago and ran if for a few years. I lost interest and recently started playing with it again. I attended a r/c boat race when I first purchased the boat and bought a tuned pipe for it but never installed it. Now I would like to but evidently I dont have what I need to install it. There is no hardware with it and there are no markings on the pipe as to who made it. It's S shaped and has a place on the bottom thats threaded to attach it to the motor for support. What I need is the hardware and fittings to attach it to the exhaust and support it to the motor. Does anyone have any idea where I could get parts for this? It might even be a custom made pipe. I'm just not sure. I tried searching the internet but have not had any luck. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!
John

That's an oldie for sure! Possibly an early pipe from Jim Irwin but I'm not sure.
You're going to need a header, the somewhat easy part as www.precision-boats.com may have them or 707 Specialties.
You can make a mounting bracket or use one from Dave Brown Products to put on the cavitation plate.
If you haven't already done it, the lower unit will have to be modified. If you don't know how to do that, I can tell you how I've done mine.
If you have plans of racing the boat, you'll need a muffler for it as the decibel rules are now in effect for the sanctioning bodies.

Ron, thanks for the info. You're right about an oldie. I believe I have had that pipe for about 15 years. I helped a friend years ago modify his lower unit by cutting it down with a band saw. I assume that is what I will have to do. Any suggestions on that please let me know.
Thanks again,
John

I do believe your pipe is an Equi pipe. Currently owned by Bob Kensil, user id of KRPNOVA on this site.
Cut your lower to look something like this:
I used a band saw then a mill to smooth out the edges.
For an easy pipe holder, bend a solid rod and drill/tap a mount hole on the lower
Once on, use a large rubber o-ring to hold it in place.

Thanks for the pics. Looks great. Now if I can just find an "O" ring and header for the pipe I will be set to give it a try.
