Jigs for 1/8 scale boats????
I am about to build a boat from a set of Newton Marine plans and I was wondering has anyone every built one of these boats using a jig?

As far as utilizing a jig, I am under the impression you are reffering to a Newton 1/8th scale hydro, the answer to that is absolutely. I did not build a Newton but you have to utilize a jig for any hydro to keep it straight and true through out the whole building process.
I had as much fun building the jig as I did the boat framing as I made a jig that would later double as the boat stand and starting stand with a little modifications.
You want tavoid any little twists that can be undectible by eyeballing the parts together.
Just a safe practice to startup as I am sure everyone will agree.

Something else you need to consider when you build a jig is how to clamp the hull down when you epoxy the bottom to the framing. The bottom and nontrips are what really keep the hull from twisting, so you need to plan your jig for ease of clamping. My jigs are relatively simple, but are easy to clamp to, as can be seen in these pictures. The 2X2 clamp rails are visible under the rear corner of the Pay N' Pak hull and under the top of the turbine jig
