OS made a Wankel .30 for a while for RC planes. It was heavy and drank alot of fuel. I too would like to know more about the engine eyecandy is talking about.

LAter,
Tim

yes wankels do take a lot of gas , our mazda rx-8 takes as much gas as out V8 400hp cadillac eldorado !
but man the engine is so cool ! the rx-8's rpm limit is 8000 and it revs so nicely!
i may go there next weekend so i will check

OS still makes the rotary engine http://www.osengines.com/engines/osmg1400.html . This is the second generation, the first was a bit of a dog. It's power is comparable to a decent .45 airplane engine. The max RPMs listed are 18,000 but those who have them say if you push that limit you will quickly wear out the rotor seals. It suffers from cooling issues and a high price tag. For the money, $340 at Tower, one could buy a really nice boat engine!

for a car yes ,the avrage revs up to like 6000 but hey wt ever u think dude

piper-chuck !
that engine sure does look nice but it isnt at all what this one looked like !
the one i saw a engine that looked like a nitro but a bit biger then most
and it had a cut out of the engine and it was just like the real rotary engines , it has the disk in it with the exaust port coming out the right side and the carb on the front

I dont know but I have pondered water cooling that one ron is showing before for use in scale stuff, they are nice for tight cowls also, but I have seen pictures of the mechanics shattered before, i dunno if it broke while running or in a crash

I also agree, 8k isnt anythign for a redline. Also, Iw as goign to say I thought the RX-8 was around 9k also. 8K can easily be attained by a built sb chevy. The highest reving sb chevy i have personally seen was a 13,500 motor, it was a 303 cubic inch motor. A 283 crank in a 327 block. Anyhow, enough from me, just figured I would throw my .02 in also

Enough about redlines on real car engines dudes...this is model boat...besides the only real REAL car engine is a SBC anywaysEyeCandy get your tail up to that Hobby Shop and gets us more information on the engine you saw.

Later,
Tim

the redlin on the 8 is just put the for show a brand new RX8 will hit 13k withought thinking twice now i don't sugest you test this as i don't know how you drive but with a ballanced flywhell the renisis rotary will make 15k on the track and farther mods have it pushoing 800 hp on track na

when the that motor was being tested they had it on the dyno for 3 days 1 hole day it was run at 13k

in the old days the 12a rx7 you could drop a brick on the peddle and leave running while you went to have a beer point is a well ballanced rotary has little to no redline

and if you need more proof look up the mazda F1 car it's engine is a more advanced version of the renesis and as we all know the F1s run in the 14k rpms constantly hell even the old 787b had a rev limit over 10 k
