I followed the .12 rigger building plans on the web sight, its up to you if you want to. I found it to be helpful with the order of operations and why thing are the way they are. And yes you do need some foam (pink/blue) the foam need to be able to be sanded without falling apart.

RE: Baby Rigger Build Log
My understanding is that the rear sponsons help the boat in turns, and that they should not really be in the water under full power.
But on top of that, it seems they would help keep the boat afloat when the boat is stopped. They say your boat should float when it is full flooded with water (to include the radio compartment). Not sure of it would without the rear sponsons...
But, I have seen pictures of boats without them...

Just as an FYI about terms, I am pretty sure the "stuffing tube" is the metal tube that runs from your motor down to your strut. I think you are talking about the "teflon liner."
And as was already said, I would say that fuel tube would not work. Fuel tube is rubbery, or sticky. Liners are supposed to be slick.

I FINALLY GOT FOAM!!! I am gonna use a liner and i am also going to have to buy LOTS of parts from the usa. Could you guys reccomend some flex cables /liner/stuffing tube from tower, because they ship international. I just bought some balsa for the rear sponsoons, and the bulkheads. can i use this balsa for the front sponsoons or do i have to use plywood. I would really like to use balsa because i can buy it in strips and not huge sheets.
Thanks

i am building the 6 cell version. Do you have any guesses for the thickness of the wood, or should it be the same as the baby rigger?

Ok if this is a .12 rigger then i would say you will use 1/32 on all sides except the side the boom tubes enters. I am just guessing on this if its for a .21 i would guess 1/16 all sides and 1/8 boom tube side. Also dont forget to consider the turnfin need to be reinforced on the inside of the sponson. I am using double sided servo tape to attach my rear sponsons.

On my .12 rigger sponsons I used for the sandwich 1/16" ply 1/8" balsa 1/2" foam 1/8" balsa 1/2" foam and then wrapped everything with 1/32 ply.
