Default System Three Clear Coat Pigment

Anyone have pics of their boat with pigment added to the clear coat? Seems like the best way to kill 2 birds with one stone, seal the hull and paint it at the same time.

Do you mean adding clear to your color?I've been doing that since 1991.PPG didnt recondmend that back then until they found out that you get a better looking finish!! I'd used DAU and Concept plus marten senior paint/crossfire. Go to page five and look at my boat!!Pic of Misshydros Miss Bud.21. I'll try to up load pics of it on here.Having computer proublems.[>:]

No, just like you add pigment to automotive paint, you can add pigment to System three's epoxy.

It's the same way! I put 30-50% color/pigment into 50-70% clear! But most of the time I put 30% color into 70% clear. It's called tinting your clear! it the same prosses as tinting your epoxy.[8D]

I've added pigment to West Systems epoxy. Won't do it again. I've then added the pigment to my clear coat which works 1000% better. Believe the difference is material thickness. Clearcoat allowed the pigment to be absorbed better than the thicker epoxy. Don't have pics of either at the moment.

I'd try that to epoxy to do a small repair on my Miss Bud.Wont do that again eather. It slowed up the cure time and didnt cure right eather.Your better off like I'd said add color to your clear. It make your job alot easyer and better finish/like show car finish.
