RE: best tuned pipe
Depends on the motor and boat. Mac's, Cooper etc........ depends on the motor and boat.
That's like asking what's the best carb or what's the best prop.
It all depends on the motor and boat.

RE: best tuned pipe
It's hard to say that one brand is better than another. There are a lot of other factors involved that can make a good or bad pipe for your application. The weight, hull style, engine timing, prop, HP and torque band and other factors for those that get down to the details when picking one out. Some manufacturers do make pipes that are application specific.
I've done well with the Irwin (now Cooper) tuned pipes but I can't say that this is the best but better than others that I've tried out.

RE: best tuned pipe
I don't have a lot of experience with different pipes. I use MAC pipes on both of my boats. What I noticed when going from the stock MV pipe, or a non-tuned muffler, to the MAC pipe is that the power band of the MAC tuned pipe is very defined. Where...the other muffler options I used seemed to have a wider throttle area, the MAC pipe seemed to have more of an off or on pesonality (either on the pipe, or off the pipe, not a lot of throttle variance while on the pipe). This was more noticable with the 2.5 pipe I have on the rigger than with the pipe I am using on my mod MV.
Going from a MCM on my rigger to the MAC pipe was an amazing difference. When the boat was off pipe, I thought I screwed up by going to a tuned pipe, then when it hit the pipe it took off like a rocket. I am about 100 percent sure this pipe is still too long...and that I need to spend some more time tuning it.
Anyhow, again, not a lot of experience behind my observations, and more tuning may change some of the pipe's personality traits that I observed.

RE: best tuned pipe
That's a Mac, not a MAC which really isn't a MAC anyway but an Andy Brown pipe. A lot of people call the AB pipes MAC's. MAC is initials, the "A" is for Andy and the "M" and "C" are for the people at CMB. Confused?
Andy doesn't make a .12 pipe-------- yet but he had one in the works that was supposed to be out a year ago. The A/A project I guess got in the way of that. He was also working on a .12 but was having problems trying to pump 70% nitro through it without overheating. That baby was going to be the baddest .12 around for a boat. Basically like his other MAC enigines but just smaller, front intake and rear exhaust.
