Default help on fitting a 61 into a small hull

Hi I have an Irvine 61 putting it in my jetstream 800

what prop shaft shall I use will a standard one be okay or do I need to get a heavy duty one i am using standard stuff like propeller and universal couplings or do i just have it start out the back no couplings and will i need to get a metal rudder will the plastic one take it lol

I have got a engine mount sorted just what prop shaft to use etc and what propeller

if you are actually gonna put that in there, it will destroy a universal joint setup real fast.


If you think the hull will handle the power...id invest in a regular strut and rudder setup, and run a 3/16 flexshaft

Hi can you tell me what a flex shaft is not that up on nitro boats but i have a few nitro air boats gave up with this one as tried a few engines

but this one will push it im sure lol

a flex shaft or flex cable is what the majority of boats use to propel the boat.
depending of the length of the hull, engine placement and strut you may need a flex 12 to 21 inches long, it is held by means of a collet from the threaded engines crank through the hull and down to the strut.

the end of the flex cable will have a stub shaft welded to the cable to which the drive dog is screwed on and finally your prop.

for a .61 I would not go any smaller than a .187" (3/16) flex system and maybe a .225" (1/4) might be better.

I suggest following believe it's recommendations,at least you'll have the set-up for use in a later hull while you watch that one disintegrate before your eye's....should be cool though so be sure you video it ...
