I hear that the new SV27 keeps up with the vegas, so you may not want to make up your mind on what boat you want quite yet. I would check the Miss vegas thread for ideas as well.

I have run my Miss Vegas version 1 against an SV27. My MV runs a stock Aqua .18 engine with a MAC 2.5 tuned pipe. Both boats run about the same speeds on the straightaway. The speed in the corners depends on the driver. The owner of the SV27 is a professional RC boater so he can beat me through corners.
You asked about the versions of the Vegas. There is a version 1 and a version 2. One way to tell which version you are looking at is the shaft size: version 1 has a .125 inch diameter flex shaft and version 2 has a .150 inch shaft.

Not when Jerry Dunlap is driving the sv27 and I'm driving the MV! I'm sure he would also beat me through the turns if he were driving my MV and I were driving his sv27! I'm a novice driver and he's the 11 time US champion.
