i just finished building a fan boat and want something faster so i thought a speed boat would be cool.i think i would want a gas boat cause of battery life and replacements.
so the question im wondering is there a way to build a fast boat 25mph+ homemade for like $300 or less or should i buy one like a aqua jet?

For under $300.00 you can go with several boats that are RTR. You'll find that each one has it's pro's and con's. I've got a Nitro Super-Vee 27 and it's faster than 25 MPH out of the box, closer to 35 or more. With a little tweaking you can get more speed out of it.
Look around in this forum and go past page one or if you see a boat that you might be interested in, type it into the search box and it will bring you up threads on it. We've got most of them pretty well covered in here.

Miss Vegas is 269.99 and the Nitro Supervee is 279 and not available till late August according to Tower hobbies. You will get 30.00 off of either if you use there discount codes

There isn't much in the way of building required, usually just installing the batteries and slapping on the decals.
I didn't miss not typing about the Miss Vegas but let him know about all of the threads that we do have on whatever boat that he is interested in and that I do have the Nitro Super-Vee 27. I generally don't recommend a hydro to a first-time boater though but that's me.

Very easy to pull start, no effort required.
in reference to how long does one gallon last! it depends how much you play.
I have burnt a gallon in a day and thats a good hard day of running, you can make your gallon last 2 weekends or more again its up to you.
Also for a starter boat and if you don't have anyone around being able to give you a hand or advice I would start with the SV 27,
as for battery or nitro, thats a personal preference. I prefer Nitro.

Nope not hard at all. Until the pullstart takes a crap and you decide to go with a belt start system. And have to buy the accessories to do that with. Figure on another $50 bucks or so minimum if you go with belt start.

Some people have been having bad luck with their pull start.
I am still using the original pull start and thats its second season, maybe I have been lucky so far.

Dan is right, some last forever it seems. Mine went after the 6th tank of fuel. I figured eventually Ill need a belt start system anyway so......
And the replacement pull start isnt that expensive, but I live over an hour from the nearest LHS so I went the belt route.
