RE: The Unofficial 7.5cc Tunnel Thread
Yeah I have a few options in the spares box so have been running the smaller lighter one for the last few runs, launches are easy I can just sit her in and off I go, takes a bit for pipe to come on but when she does-hang on!! under 31inch hull-she takes off!! I got some weight for the nose now and have raised engine a tad as I got a bit of porpoising last run after adding a bit of neg trim. I might stick with the small flywheel for a bit more and see if I can get this hull to stay on the water a bit more-wind has been screwing with every time I go out!!
Cheers,
Dion.

Here are some pics of the set up I am currunntly running. I think I need to run a smaller tank on top as I cant get much past half a tank before she quits with this engine-maybe foaming issue? Stock engine no probs.

Ah, it may be a bit low in the hull. You can run a smaller tank a bit higher up or increase the height of your current tank if you have the room. I'd also try and make the fuel delivery line a bit more direct if you can.

I just screwed the rb lid back on, in there is 1/4scale hitec for steering and normal hitec for throttle , futaba 2pk controlled with a 1600mah slim 5 cell for power. I get very little water if anyin there considering it sealed with an elestic band!! It has spent a bit of time upside down, prob should cap the antenna. Prop is a 447. Fuel is 35%.

I was thinking of taking an inch or so out of the fuel line, I should be able to raise the tank a little more before I hit the cowl. Do you know what this pipe is that I have on?

I do not recognize it. One of the other guys may. Doesn't the 1/4 scale servo take up a lot of room? Now days a standard size servo can be purchased with sufficient torque.

Yeah it is a dated set up but has worked well for me and when done the cg is at about 28% without adding any weight. This is a fairly solid hull now with a bit more weight in reinforcement so my mates can have a go and crash without it cracking up much more- still goes fast on a small dam!! I have a few spare 1/4 scale servos to use up in these hulls so they will have to do!!

Hi guys,
Looking for some help with fitting a turbo head button I have. Do the two small grooves near the glow plug face toward the inlet ports? At the moment the engine is running the standard head button with no shims. Is it critical to measure the head clearance before fitting the turbo button as the turbo button will sit quite a bit deeper in the sleeve.
Any help would be great,
Cheers,
Dion.

measured from top of sleeve to top of piston at tdc and got,
looking at mounted K&B 7.5ob
north: .0835
east: .0835
south: ..0820
west: .0830
as I dont have the tools to measure the depth at center, I took four measurments and averaged it out.
measurment on turbo button was .0855-.0860
stock button was .0660-.0670

Done my calculations and my currant squish band with stock button is .017. Should I use two .010 shims if I use the turbo button to get the squish back to .017?

Dion.

Aim for .010" - .012" on the squish. You can go tighter but best nit go if it us a Keeley turbo button.

Thanks Brad!
I have the shims to get me that squish so all is good. It is a Keeley button. I look forward to seeing the difference, just need some more fuel.
Cheers,
Dion.

Tried new buttton today, after a few rescues and leaning it out a bit more among a few other changes, finally got some good runs in. Definately more speed now, just got to get it running as smooth as I had it. Head was not getting real warm so tried half and full restriction on cooling, somewhere in the middle would have been best today I think. Left the car packed and will try more tommorow.

Is anyone else on RCU still running the 7.5 ob's?? I know Brad is, but seems to be dieing on this site but has a strong following elsewhere. I am putting an new hull together this winter running the Novarossi 46with a Lightspto kiton a Lawless lower bolted to a Vision hull. Nearly went an HTB 360 but went with the Vision. Should be fun!!

First in first served contact Jeremy at [email protected] for more info.
