as long as it's designed for nitro and meets NAMBA requirements. Taylor Shaw is doing his own design, many are doing Jerry Dunlap designed tunnels, some might be doing Blazer Marine Whiplash's or Dumas kits while I may be doing a scaled down scale boat, so................................................ ...............

Okay Builders,
to get an idea of who is participating and what you are building, could all that plan to participate please post their name and boat or hull type so we all can see how many plan on joining the competition. MIght as well go first:
Hydro Junkie is building a Sport 40 class hydroplane, boat to be determined

that's the idea. Boats will be judged by the RCU members on build and final appearance so photo documentation is a must. Running pictures would be nice but are not required. You just need to post pictures of your progress, so don't send them to me

Sean, looks like you have the Yota vote of approval on the Whiplash, so................................................ .....
Since nobody seems to have any problems with the rules as written, we will go with them. I have removed all the bold letters and reworded as needed. Hope everyone that plans on joining has their plans/kit ordered and materials on hand or in process thereof. Remember, today is Monday, December 17, so the build officially starts in 15 days.

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
Well all its the December 20, 2007 hope all the Christmas stuff is going well. The Build Challenge is right around the corner now. There is still time to get plans or a kit to build for this challenge before the start date. A reminder alot of building is pretty easy but take your time and you should get a quality product which you can say you built yourself from a pile of wood . Also the 4 month time limit can and will in some cases be very much needed to finish the build, I know my builds get slowed down to $$$$ for parts that are needed. So All please join in on this Build Challenge it should be alot of fun and you could learn alot. And all have a great Christmas and Happy New Years !!!

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
Is there a penalty if I don't finish? I'd like to do a rigger based on a firefighter 18. I say based on it since I did by the electronic plans from T moorehouse, but can not print the full size blue print. So I printed something and I believe it is smaller by several inches. Will this be okay? This will be a first from scratch build I've ever done. I'm 80% done with hydro oberto kit I bought from ebay one time but haven't figured how to finish it since it didn't come with the original blue print.
So, I guess you can count me in for the rigger.

RE: HYDROPLANE BUILD CHALLENGE V2.0
I would like to take part guys. I am still not sure what will be easier to go with. Ideally a Brian blazer sport 40 would be my preference, however depending on financial state, i have plans already for a gary findlay atlas van lines, (just would like to avoid the cutting out part). Anyhoo please register my interest, and I'll get back to you with final build.
Nick.
