Does anybody know if the thundercat 31 is faster than aeromarines mean machine or are they about the same?

here's my bias answer tc31 is faster and better.

Unfortunately the Mean Machine 18 is a real disappointment.
Where should I start?
For the price there is much better out there.
Bad instruction manual that really tells you nothing.
Super-cheap radio system, a lot worse than the JR Python.
Odd sized flex cable (must be metric) and the propshaft isn't threaded, you just slip on a piece of fuel line to keep the prop on.
Terrible engine.
It does have it's upsides though. Nicely laid-up hull. Decent hardware. Great radio box. The tuned pipe is very nice.
The boat just can't compete with those that are $100.00 less.

The sad thing is that I saw the protoypes and thought that it was going to be the next "must have" boat in my fleet.

Hi Guys anybody has considered upgrade a MeanMachine Hull with engine, hardware, props from TC31 ?, may be a good option.

Cristen, it's been done. I've seen where people have modified the boats and put .21's in them. Fun RC Boats sells a version RTR but is a little harder to do with their motor mount. If I were going to go that route, Remy has a set of molds at the shop so they can lay one up there and just buy the bare hull.

As just about everyone knows, I've never been much of a Pro Boat fan but the TC 31 kind of surprised me.

Iv got to disagree, now in "stock" form the mean machine is horrible, Its slow, cheap components (with the exception being the hardware), BUT as far as running the course goes, the mean machine corners a LOT better, Iv got 1 with 2 SV-27 surface drives and electronics that runs on 4s2p, i can run a little over 50mph and corner just fine, Im working on a friends TC31 and the hull is a total disappointment. Though its getting better, Ill be laying the carbon fiber in it this week.



I will say id like to see the meanmachine hull retail with rudder/strut for around $150 to make it a excellent ARR. (the radio box its self is nice quality, the components inside suck)

I've heard some good things and bad things about the tc31 but mostly good things. The tc31 is the next on my list to acquire and then I came across the mean machine. It looks cool but if doesn't go what's the point. Thanks

mean machine is a very good hull and as equal as the 21 sprint cat as youll find but not the RTR hull if you want one i suggest calling aeromarine and buying the hull set up with normal engine rails set at 4" and rigging it up your self.

If you want a MM 18, Fun RC Boats does sell a kit that includes just about everything but the radio system and engine. They also do a RTR with a .21 but be prepared for sticker shock.

Any body know how is the cost for MM bare hull with 4" rails only? any weigth specification?.

Cristian, the problem is that the MM doesn't come with engine rails. Aeromarine should be able to lay one up for you that way as they do have at least one mold here in the States otherwise you can go to one of their other .21/.45 Cat hulls. They also do a light lay-up hull for the fast electric crowd that you could make your own rails for.
