It will take a little bit of work, but slotting the holes in the strut will allow it to be adjusted downward. I also place 6 oz. of lead under the radio box.

I thought it would be better to add the weight closer to the center of gravity of the boat (which I HEARD was about 9" forward of the transom). My flying experience tells me that shifting the center of gravity aft, by placing the weight farther back in the boat, under the radio box, will reduce stability and controlability. Just wondering if this logic also translates into boats.

No sure if logic always plays a factor in model boats. I know what worked for me on my SV 27 Nitro.

I go along with Jerry strut angle first , strut up= bow down. As far as weight think as a kids teater taunter less weight farther out = faster boat

OK! Thanks JD. I'll try it both ways this season and see what works.

I thought that if you move the strut UP (positive angle) it forces the bow UP, making it faster?

From Aquacraft site (Tuning Tips for SV27):

Positive Strut Angle: Positive strut angle causes the bow (front) to run high, making the boat faster but less stable and likely to blow off or crash in rough water. As a side note this also places the least amount of stress on the motor and drive line.

One Last thing That old book THE basics of boating I think said, center of gravity should be 1/3 of overall boat from back , Turn fins work best nearest to COG .RIGGERS & hydro are not the same setup, Just basic boats Rigger's COG is just behind flex hex Remember there a 2 COL on your basic boat Left & right also. End of tape is COG on MISS EXPRESS & ALL HYDROS
