I'm getting the kits as it will be a lot easier for me to do it that way. Joe reported last night that they should be starting to ship kits in the next week or so for those that pre-ordered. Yes, there are some people already going to do these in FE form.

Exactly which Novarossi .12 is being used for the JAE rigger, where can they be bought, and what mods are being done to it, and by who? Thanks. Also are there any other choices (.12 engines) that could be used too?

Glenn's got a fresh batch in with the latest upgrades to the timing. I bvought mine earlier in the year and is the 5-port.
There aren't too many mods that the engine needs but Glenn is doing a carb mod (cutting off the spray bar) for a slight extra charge.
Glenn also has a tuned pipe that he builds himself that's worth a look at also.
Here's the engine and pipe installed in my Sport .12.

They should be coming out this week or next hopefully according to Joe. I'm waiting for an e-mail or some kind of notification from him as to what my total coat will be with shipping 2 kits.
Sometime in the near future we're going to see a .21 version as they're finalizing everything on that.

I got a PM from Joe, the first run is done and will start shipping on Monday. The bad news is that all of the initial run are already sold but Joe's making more sawdust and should have more kits available very soon.
It looks like when I get mine I'll have to do a build thread on them.

WELL SHOOT!!![:@] Thats why I took the time to call him and I said id go ahead and pay for one in advance but he didnt want to do it sighhhh guess I know where I stand in the peckin order huh..thats what i get for recomending his kits to a newb..at least they got there kit so im not guilty of giving bad advice...Sorry to be impatient but as you know my time on this earth is way way short and got alot of livin and boat building to cram into it.

Did you get on the list? I have no idea where I'm at so I'll wait for Joe to let me know. I did e-mail him as soon as I found out that he was getting an idea of how many he'd have to make in the first run.
Now I'm going to have to get another order in to Joe Solinger for the hardware. Walt Barney is supposed to be working on fuel cells for these boats but he's waiting on a kit also to see if there were any changes made between the JAP and JAE versions. A Sullivan SS-4 should fit in there also.

When I spoke with him all he said was the kits should be available end of Aug and he would e mail me and let me know..and I havent heard anything else..I have allready purchased hardware..I bought a complete harware kit from one of the chinese guys off ebay..it looks like good stuff we will see got a 1/8 th flex shaft kit with it and I have a dynamite .15 engine to try in it...so all I need now is a kit..Im certain your at the top of the advanced sale list...I just hope im in there somewhere

Joe PMed me and said I was on the list ..whewwwwww realy want to build this kit...he didnt give me a delivery date but thats ok so long as I made it on the list...

I got a paypal invoice from Zipp Kits today for my JAE rigger kit! I've been building a JAP from the plans which is ready for paint but will be glad to see this kit. I was one of the people that emailed in and got on the list when I heard they were making the kits.[sm=thumbup.gif]

Man Im glad you guys said something..there wasent anything in my email from paypal or anyone else..so I went and checked at pay pal and sure enough there was the invoice YEEE HAWWW..Couldnt click the pay now button fast enough ...perfect timing too finished building the windy today so all I have left to do is seal and paint...

I'm really happy for you guys that are building this boat! I wish I could be there when you get the motor broke in and tuned right.... the speed is shocking if you are used to an RTR. And hopefully, these .12 hydros will catch on enough at your local club so that you can make a class (usually 3 boat minimum). We had 6 (one guy blew his engine early in the season and hasnt replaced it - but he has too many boats already) - and we almost always have 5 running race day. Its a BLAST!

Todd, what I have to do is go over more your way to a D-14 race as I'd probably have a better shot at finding a "A" hydro class. There should be a lot of them next year in that district but would have some very tough competition seeing how Ron Jr., Geraghty and others race there. Gary Pruesse has one fast .12, a mini Hawk and Tom Moorehouse with his Firefighter 12.
I see this as more of an IROC type of class as most will be using the JAE kit, JAP plans with Glenn's NR's. It's gonna be all about the setup and who can hug the buoys.
