I'm very thankful that Matt S. is racing nitro. We lost Rick P. to gas very quickly, but he flies gas planes so I'm not surprised at all. Those gas planes are huge! Makes gas boats look small. [/QUOTE]

I dont have any plans to run gas!

The Southern Tier NY Model Boat Club now has their own forum. It's still a work in process, but feel free to join. The 2014 schedule is posted. The forum is located at http://www.stnymbc.boards.net/

Engineman351,

If you don't mind me asking, I was looking at your pictures and took notice of the one "Flying In" and since I'm in the Rochester area, I was wondering where that picture was taken? Is that a private pond? I've had minor difficulties finding a good area to run large boats.

Hytest...I run at Stony Pond in Canandaigua. The pond is set up for racing with buoy's and a driver's stand. To run there you need to be an IMPBA member. If you want more info either send me a PM...or stop by Dan's Craft's and Things on Empire Blvd on a Tuesday night. I work there on Tuesday nights 6-8pm. It might be easier to just chat a bit about the pond and it's use. Roger C

Hello, I hope everyone had a good holiday. I'm trying to clear out some things around the house and this deep v is one of them. I've got an old Eagle 60 in there right now and a rudder. The boat measures 38" with a 14" beam. I don't know how to post thumbnail images so I just posted direct links. I believe it's an old Dumas. I wanted to get it running but I've got enough other boat projects that are nothing but basement ornaments still. Figured I'd offer it to the local community first. Eric 755-7748

I can't even get my .40 hydro's on the water reliably. I cannot take on another water project. It's due to a lack of experience and time. I understand that this would be a bit easier than the hydros but I'm not sure it'll happen. It'll stay in the rafters most likely unless someone wants to work on it. Plus if I'm going to put time and money into a boat I'd rather put it into a JAE rigger (after I get my others running).

One of the things that has me down about the boats is how dangerous they are. My Grandmother lives on Conesus Lake and we camp on Raquette Lake in the Adirondack Mountains in the summer. Both are lakes that I cannot launch one of these boats on. I'd rather fly a battery powered helicopter in any field I come across. My interest is leaning toward a quad or tri-copter to cary a GoPro. When that happens I'll bring it to the pond.

Come May my son will be born so that's going to take a lot of my time. Only time will tell.

Opening up another IMPBA spot in the area will be excellent for the hobby. Are those country clubbers at Carey Lake aware at the kind of noise that these things make though? Fingers crossed.

There was a group of guys running boats on a private pond in Spencerport last year too. Anyone know who those guys are?

I'm not so sure using DeWalt decals is a good idea. I seem to remember that a guy in the midwest was almost sued by DeWalt/B&D for making a set of decals for the 8806 hull to model the boat with
