tun fin help
Where should the turn fin be postioned on a rigger in relationship to c.o.g.
thanks Alex |
RE: tun fin help
Traditionally the turn fin is mounted on the right side sponson transom, assuming your running clockwise. show us a pic if possible, and let us know which make/size rigger you have, and if you intend to race or just run for fun....</p> |
RE: tun fin help
Usually 1" behind the CG.

RE: tun fin help

RE: tun fin help
OK, I'm getting back into 'riggers after being out of them for a while (see the JAE .12 thread) so I was told 1" from the front of the turn fin to the CG. With the JAE fortunately I have the option of 3 positions to move it around to find which setting I like.

RE: tun fin help

Usually 1" behind the CG. |
RE: tun fin help
wow i just went and measurd it and i have it at 3.5 inches that may explain why it has a mind of its own and turns way to tight
thanks for the help guys does this 1 inch apply to hydros as well |
RE: tun fin help
Thanks Mike as I wasn't exactly sure and started confusing myself! I retyped that I don't know how many times before hitting the OK button as it didn't sound right to me either.

RE: tun fin help
does this 1 inch apply to hydros as well think like this the boat balances on the cg what ever it may be for the boat its different with all of them, the turn fin is a pivot point when turning if im remembering correctly if its to far forward youll have wide turns to far back youll have super short quick turns or even spin outs and be squirmy which I see you figured out place the Trailing edge forward of the CG a little and tune it from there the 1" may be to far forward but again thats where trial and error come into play you may try and find someone that has a rigger like what ever you have and ask what they run at, that would give you a starting point for yours and make tuning easier |
