With the wing joint buttoned up, it's time to cover it. I'm not going into detail here, but I
will say I put my best craftsmanship into it and I'm pleased with the results.

I really like it when a plane gets to this stage.

I build my planes to last. That means they have to be fuel-proofed carefully.
I fuel-proofed the firewall area with two coats of thinned epoxy.

I painted the firewall area with Lusterkote. I do this to all my planes as it gives
them a nice finished look.

The tail feathers went on nicely. Note the braces made of tri-stock.

The FourStar is looking great with it's feathers on, but it's still missing something......

Ahh...That's better. I applied the kit decals using the wet Windex method.

Since the Saito's carb will be against the firewall, I'm using the DuBro 4-stroke throttle
linkage kit. It requires you to drill and tap a hole in the engine mount, after that it's a sinch to set up.

The linkage was hooked up, then the engine was bolted down for the final time.
I'm glad that I ponied up for the Saito.
A 12x5 Zinger and Goldberg spinner complete the installation.

This is where planning ahead pays off. The needle valve fit perfectly into the
hole I made for it. A cut down allen wrench makes a nice handle. I'm proud of this one!

I detailed the H9/E Flite pilot with plastic model acrylics then glued him in place.
I glued the canopy on with RC56, and secured it with plenty of tape till it cured.
After the the canopy glue cured I striped the canopy with H9 Ultrastripe. It didn't
go around the front of the canopy perfectly but I did my best.

Looks great Breeze! This thread brings back all kind of nice memories of the 2 Four Stars I've built and how proud I was of each. Everyone says you just put glue in the box and shake and wham out comes a 4 star. It's more than that. It's still a kit you have to build. But they are such nice and detailed kits if you take your time and do your best you will be rewarded with a wonderful looking and flying airplane. These pics remind me of what a great feeling it is to be putting the final touches on a plane that you build from balsa sticks. It still gives me a tingly feeling knowing that it is a brand new airplane that's almost ready to fly now.
