Default I need a better radio

I love to fly but know very little about radios.
I have an early generation DX7 I bought about 10 years ago. I have owned maybe a half a dozen or more models over those years that have AX3S and have never been able to enjoy it with my older radio. Embarrassed to say that just recently I found out what this technology is and noticed looking into one of my planes that low and behold, there it was all along, spectrum receivers with AX3S in nearly all my planes. I’m not a very technical guy (obviously) but I’m not a beginner pilot by any means. I’ll fly anytime anywhere and with confidence. I don’t say that to be braggadocios just that I need help understanding what it is I might need. I’m sure all the spectrum radios have the ability to switch to safe mode and AX3S modes?? But maybe I’m missing out on other features that are available. Or maybe it’s enough to know what not to buy.
nevertheless, I just need to have a little help.
cheers!!

As you are already familiar with "DX7" , just upgrade to "DX9", the more channels the better.

If you already have a high level of skill, why would you want/need electronic stabilization? Are you flying anything complex that requires special mixing?
