Default Extra 300-S.. Lanier Kit or CMP ARF?

OK folks.. I need help making a choice..

I'm looking at Either the Lanier Extra 300-S kit or the CMP Extra 300-S ARF from Nitro Models.
Nitro beats Tower on shipping so it's a $5 difference in the final price..
Both planes are the same size and take the same size engines.

I know I'll spend extra building and covering the Lanier kit but that's no big deal to me.

Or if you have another 1/4 scale option (Kit or ARF, Extra or Edge type aircraft ) that will fall in the $170 shipped range let me know.

Also would a SPE 40cc gasser be a good engine? I can't find a good comparison chart for going from glow to gas.
