Us with modems get the back end of the stick, ahh. RCU has tomany pop ups and the page timers are killing me, if you notices the page resets every so often. Is that because RCU is trying to promote more ads and does this lead to Encourage us to buy a membership to lose the pop ups and ads thus giving us more page loads? Well this all just kills us modem users. RCU is profitting off all of us users that has created information and posted here to Create RCU for what it has become today. RCU lets repair the site so that us modem users get a better page load, and then I will be glad to pay the membership fee better yet go back to the old way, and I will be glad to still pay the member ship fee. looks like we need to recreate a RC site that does not plan to go the way of commercial politics.[:@]

On this particular computer, I have had a modem connection for years (56K). At my office, we use a T-1 connection, and to be VERY honest, I really do not notice a whole lot of difference in the individule page loading. The full page ad, at time, gets a bit sluggish, but you can select that to show after 100 rather than 25 passes.
Could it be possible that there may be something on YOUR computer causing the slow down...I. E. a cache full of temporary internet files, a slow hard drive full of dead files...? Just asking, as I debug and clean my hard drive reagularly, and it DOES make a difference in speed on the internet.
Just some observations......

Turn off the dynamic headers.
go to MyAccount
there is a setting there to turn OFF the menu system. They menu javascript can slow page loading for dial up or slower computers. Turn it off and see what happens.
The new site uses page compression just like the old RCU used. I will check to ensure that it is working ok. Our compression makes a page that was 200k pushed down to 25k in filesize. Speedup is usually 4-8x faster. It is possible that it might not be working properly but I will check this possibility too. If it isn't working right yet that would make page load MUCH longer for everyone.
38% of RCU users are on dialup BTW
