Default Text Size is not the same

Ok, I'm gonna post this and then shut up and enjoy the forum. In my post "I still don't like it", I stated that the font size is larger here on the new site and it is harder to read. I was told that it is exactly the same as the old font and type. Well, I may be old but I ain't blind yet, and I only work on computers about 12 hours a day. I can pretty much tell when a font/size has changed. Below is an image that I put together to show the difference. The top part was alt-print screened from the site mentioned, the bottom part was alt-print screened from the exact same post on the new site. The print on the new site is obviously bigger.[>:]

It is still harder to read for me.

So you are saying the larger print size is harder to read? Does anybody agree with this? Also the size can be somewhat dependent where you have your browser set:

Yes, the new size is harder for me to read. It can't quite put my finger on it, some fonts are just proportioned such that they become hard to read. I can't quite tell what it is, but upon closer inspection I think that it might be the inter-character spacing. If you look in my example at the word color and camera in the first line you see how much smaller the distance between the co and the ca is in the new font. So it looks like that the characters may be larger but the space between them is smaller, causing me to have more difficulty making out the words. I can read it, it just takes more effort than the old font did.

My browser IE 6.0.2 is set to View > Text Size > Medium. Just like it has always been.

I looked at the picture of the font and the top is smaller AND more readable. My font is set to Medium. While I wear bifocals and don't need to see clearly to read, clear text does help!

It does appear that the new font has proportional spacing while the old is somewhat fixed. I agree when you get two l's ll squeezed together or whatever it is more difficult to read. The old font is different and easier on my eyes, if that is the old font.

both fonts are verdana. same font. I'm going to check the size to see if I'm off perhaps.

OK, call me dumb, or blind, I can't see the difference.
If it got better then I can't tell.
Not a complaint, I didn't have a problem before.
Not easy to improve perfection

You can't see the difference where? In this thread? Marc made a change that effected all the normal thread text in all posts, so you will no longer be able to see the difference. There was a size difference, check the image in the first post. It is pretty subtle and it might not have affected you. Some of us found it harder to read. And Marc, the great guy that he is, changed it after I whined about it, and showed him that it was different.

Great guy...your makin' me blush

IT was a point to large compared to the old site. This verdana font gets a little harder to read as it gets larger so this softened it up.

the other changes are coming this week "the big stuff" (thankfully and not a moment too soon). thank you for your patience and I again apologize for the longer than expected time to get the forums fixed up! It isn't for a lack of effort I assure you.
