what is this "RCU" at the end of certain ppl's names?...
Also, I've been sending emails to various admins for weeks about some issues regarding a review and an article and havent had a reply... is the email/pm function working?...

The PM function works (I suspect the email does too).
The problem with the PM function, unless I'm really missing something, is that there is no notification to the user that they have PMs. In the old RCU, you'd see this honking flashing red sign when you logged on if you had a PM. Now, as far as I can see, nothing. I would guess that thousands of RCU members have unread PMs, but don't know it.
(Or, maybe I'm wrong and the notification is just too subtle for me.)

The -RCU thing is for folks like me that had duplicate user names on both RC Universe and RC Airport. I believe at some point we will be given a method to merge accounts and remove the -RCU suffix.

PM's offer email notification as well as a popup reminder when a new message arrives. Click the yellow settings tab near the top right of the page.
