Default CU neds to

RCU needs to take a good look at the Classified ad section of their listings .For instance ...someone places an ad for 20.00 total asking price and I offer the amount ..only to find out someone offered 30.00 for the ad.....Excuse me this is bidding ...NOT CLASSIFIED...happened to me a lot.ALL RCU needs to do is limit the ad to what the seller is asking ...good business and the way it should be....PLEASE TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THIS PROBLEM....Thanks....

There will be cases where this can happen. This is just like if you were selling a plane at your field and you say I want $100 for this plane and one guys says right away I'll give you 100 bux! But no sooner than that comes out of his mouth another guys says he'll give you $110 for it and he really wants it. What are you going to do. Tell the guy who just offered $110 you won't take his offer because 10 seconds earlier somebody else said they would give you what you just asked? Unlikely. I've seen this happen at my field and it goes to the highest offer. These are called "offers" and not "bids".

A guy lists something and maybe comes back the next day to consider all offers made. If one is higher than he asked why should he limit himself to only those who met his original asking price or lower? Now it is a lucky seller who has this problem but there is little that can be done about it in the real world or online. How happy is a seller going to be if he asks $100 but has offers higher than that which he cannot accept? Would you be a happy seller? Something is only worth what somebody is willing to pay for it. There is no offer/acceptance until the seller accepts any offer put on the table to them. Only then is it "sealed". We don't encourage this sort of thing but a small percentage of time it will occur either when the seller does not ask enough or there is just a buyer out there who will pay more today to get that item.

hope this explains it a bit although probably still not pleasing to you.

Thanks for the reply RC admin..All I am asking is that you make the lister put his item in the proper category ..Either for bidding or classified. After all we all want your site to be user friendly and honest.......the way things should be.If a seller wants the high bid then auction it...If he has a price ...Make him stick with his contract price...Thanks for listening to my echoes....rcpilot007......

You should read this piece on offer and acceptance law to explain why in this case the seller is not obligated and there is no contract yet.

http://www.west.net/~smith/acceptance.htm

http://www.duhaime.org/contract/ca-con4.aspx

our system is such that an offer must be accepted by a seller before it is binding in any way.

also to answer your note above let me give anothe example. say you want $100 for your motor. you list it in classifieds. not auctions because you don't want an auction. You want $100 or best offer. You wake up tomorrow and find 5 offers. two of them are at $90, one is at $100, one at $110 and another at $120. Which one do you take? Will you refuse all because guys offered more and you did not know they would and now you realized you should have listed this as an auction? I think you see the point. A seller cannot control high offers and cannot know when to list as an auction. Heck if a seller thought he could get MORE and get a bidding war going I think everyone would go that route. In fact more people should as our auctions for certain products can do extremely well based on our sell through data here.

Thanks for the reply Marc at RC Admin ....I think that What has bothered me about the listings is the way the listing read...For instance...The seller says 100.00 gets the item..Not 100.00 OBO and wala someone floats in a 120.00 price and what do you know ...the seller accepts...I do see your point and if this is fair practice then so be it..I think RCU is a great RC site and thank you very much for your time and explanation of the sellers position......Happy Flying....RCPILOT007.......
